My converted sandbox worm bin is similar in that there's no drainage and it's an all or nothing harvest. I baited worms out over several feedings, then pulled out all the vermicompost in seven large totes to let the cocoons mature. I'm about halfway through manually pulling out the worms that were still in the material. I could bake them out in each tote, but I decided to just manually pull worms and cocoons to get the castings to my garden. That system may work for you if you could bait as many worms as you can, then move the remaining material to other bins to age out. ~ Sandra

Great idea I just have had very little success in baiting as I typically forget that I need to come back quickly to pull out any worms. But Maybe I can try this again after this feeding. I have a new system I want to test out and with summer approaching it just might be the right time.
