I hope she is healed and doing well. I hope she would get a 10 or close to it. I used to do routines on the bars and my hands would rip open. And on top of that when my hands would bleed I had to put chalk on them, painful but I still had to get back on the bars and get through it. When you are flying like that you have to get past the pain, that is why she kept going. But after the dismount, the pain really sets in. That was a beautiful and a very difficult bar routine. She was fantastic 👏

@Karamarika at this point, it doesn't matter if she passed out or not. the poor girl was in pain and these coaches should be scolded for abuse...
@Karamarika
@Karamarika Жыл бұрын
@@lisamb4269 she can choose to compete or not. Athletes compete while injured all the time. She was surely training all of these skills prior to this event. It was unforeseeable that this would cause a more severe injury. They don't have crystal balls to tell them when something will be too much. If every athlete took time off for every injury, they may as well just retire. Would you blame the coaches for the gymnast that broke his leg on the vault at the Olympics? Of course not. It was unforeseeable, just like this.
@PrettyLittleLetters
@PrettyLittleLetters Жыл бұрын
@@Karamarika that’s a false equivalence. A broken leg occurs from an accident that is unforeseen and unavoidable but performing on an already present injury is dangerous and could leave to life long problems and is deliberate, not accidental or unforeseeable. It depends on the type and severity of the injury as to whether it’s safe to compete but if it was so bad that one routine caused her to pass out then she was not fit and her coaches should have stepped in and pulled her out. No competition is worth causing permanent injury and potential lifelong pain for yourself.
@Karamarika
@Karamarika Жыл бұрын
@Julianne Harrington incorrect. Athletes compete while injured all the time. Yes, they could worsen the injury, but the result here was completely unforeseeable. She was clearly training the routine she did in competition. This didn't happen in training, so why would the coaches think that the competition would cause this to happen? Idk what competition this was, but if it was something really important, like Olympic trials or the Olympics, then the decision to compete is obvious. If it was some little competition that had no bearing on her future, then it would make less sense to compete while injured. Ultimately, it's up to the athlete. It's their body on the line. Injuries can happen at any moment.

Uummm, did that remind anyone of the 1996 Summer Olympics when Keri Strug did her final vault perfectly, stuck the landing for a mere 2 seconds, and then quickly followed it by her dropping to the ground the same way that girl did due to torn ligaments in her foot that she literally just injuried moments before on her 1st attempt on the vault. Pain aside, she pushed through receiving the high score needed which secured the Gold Medal 🥇 for the USA Girl Gymnastics Team. Anyone, No just me?? 🤔 My total RESPECT to everyone with that incredible talent!

You go with all your heart and do the best you can Sometimes there is no second chance so vou have to go for it. It's not about football, it's about gymnastics. @@Zoey_0517ou are thinking the old scoring system, NCAA SYSTEM & scoring system up to level 10. The current scoring system for Elite Sr Gymnastics for both men and women have 2 separate parts to get a "starting score" the difficulty score, the execution (valued out of 10). They are combined and the final execution score is given after deductions. Penalty would be going past a time bell or a fall (additional technical deductions) everything is added together (penalties get subtracted) for the final score. In her case 14.166

Coaches first responsibility is the safety of their gymnasts. This was painful to watch. She did a beautiful routine, but at what cost? Everyone in the gymnastics world should remember the tragedy of Soviet gymnast, Elena Mukhina; she trained a vault that she had a difficult time perfecting; her coaches made her do it; she broke her neck and became paralyzed. 😢
