Great album, and it's not even on Spotify

This record has pulled me through so many dark times in my life. I wish this band hadn’t disappeared. Every now and then I look for related projects these artists are involved in and I come up empty handed. If you were a part of this project, thank you for the beauty and shine you cast in the darkest corners. You give me hope when there is nothingness. Thank you.

Amen! Amen! I am grateful that this album was recorded, and that we can still listen to it over and over again. Gregor Samsa is never truly lost!

Who would've thought a giant cockroach could make such beautiful music. Love this. Beauty too can come from darkness and monstrosity.

Gregor Samsa is the name of the main character in Kafka's "The Metamorphosis". He awakes one day only to find he's turned into a giant cockroach. It's truly a great read!

this is still among the best of the music from this time period. i played in a band called good night and good morning, and this record was definitely a big influence on us. we were labelmates but sadly never got to see or play with them.
@joelcuthbert3014 Жыл бұрын
I have just stumbled on this now.. you must know your work in Goodnight and Good Morning holds equal in my heart. Narrowing Type has carried me through the last few years... so many strange disparate gems seemingly bringing me back to Own Records. How did they capture so much lightning in their bottles! And so many of them unfortunately still hidden. Anyways.. funny to come across your comment. I'm tumbling on this work through one of its members work in a strange electronic project Planar that I found years ago. .. anyways know that there's a few of us out there wandering in the woods with headphones on and the beautiful blanket of melancholy that you worked on with Goodnight and Goodmorning still sheltering us in life's storms! Cheers!

I love this band. This album has pulled me through awful times. Abutting dismanting is probably the best song on the album and is in my top 10 best songs ever and this band also introduced me to kafka and Bosch from looking up gregor samsa and jeroen van aken was boshes birth name. Love bands who help me find other artists, poets, films, music, or even science and philosophy.

I keep coming back time and time again to listen to this album, and every time, I like it even more than the time before. What a beautiful piece of music. It hits me right in the feels. Gives me these haunting, melancholy, nostalgic feelings that are both profoundly sad and profoundly happy somehow. Definitely one of my favorite albums.

Love all gregor samsa stuff to death. Never have I been attached to music like I have last few days obsessively relistening thier albums and eps. Its just so melancholic, nostalgic, euphoric, hopeful, mesmerizing and blissful. Just perfect vibes all the way. I will forever love and enjoy these songs.

The first song, "The Adolescent", sound WAY too much like Mogwai's "Auto-Rock" to not be a case of clear fucking plagiarism.
@mightguy1234567 жыл бұрын
As clear as plagiarism gets.
@Shinigami131336 жыл бұрын
tapaddtiiiii that's not plagiarism in the slightest, they probably heard the piano riff from auto-rock and used it as the base for their own song. For it to be plagiarism then they'd need to be passing off something that sounds almost note for note the same as auto-rock, which they didn't
@doomerbloomer61603 жыл бұрын
herp derp uses a few of the same notes and the same time signature, must be plagiarism herp derp the songs are not even remotely similar, fuck off
