One of my favorite game boy games. Still have the catrige, and he still works. Music is awesome, and the game is pretty hard. Espsecially the olympic games lvl.

Have you played Lucky Luke? Same composer, same challenging difficulty, and in my opinion quite a bit more solid gameplay (it does have four auto-scrollers though, so if you dislike those it might not be as suitable :P). I've also played les Schtroumpfs (The Smurfs) by the same developer, but I didn't like that one as much. You die way too easily, which is compensated for by so many 1-ups that you'll rarely go game over unless you're on a boss.

@@607 i didnt played those games. I can on emulator but its not the same feeling. Aside A&O my personals are Mario land series, Batman animated series, Kid Icarus, Zelda...

I assume you've got a Game Boy handheld still as otherwise you wouldn't know that your Astérix & Obélix cartridge is functional. :P I haven't heard of 'Batman animated series' and haven't seen 'Kid Icarus' either, although I've heard of it. Interesting!

@@607 i know, just sayin. My original game boy is broken, so i bought a used game boy color couple months ago. If you can try to find and play kid icarus. Great game, excellent bosses, good musuc. Batman: the animated series as well. You can play as batman and robin against joker, pinguin, poison ivy, mr. Freez, riddler and two face.

Dead Man Song I will pick up Kid Icarus if I come across it cheap. Lucky Luke is also on GBC, and it looks very good! I recommend getting that one, then. :)

A lot of detail here for a classic GB game. Look at those walk cycles and the shading on the sprites. I'm pretty sure this was about as good as it got with the hardware.

Kudos to Infogrames for condensing the Snes game onto the GB. Not bad.

Bit Managers has a big share of the merit in doing that. Even though Asterix and Obelix was their only SNES game, they essentially did most of the 8 bit development (especially Game Boy, but also NES, Master System and Game Gear) of Infogrames back then.

Great game, but I recommend getting the GBC version instead if you're interested, as that one has a password system. This is not only a very hard game, it is also rather long for a game without saves or passwords.

Good to know. Do you happen to know, whether the NES Version has a save system?

I didn't even know there was an NES version! I only know these two and the pc and the SNES versions. I think all versions use passwords or nothing, though, never a save system.

@@607 On grey cartrige no password but the game have a cheat that you can choose the level.....On the main menu press 4 times left, 1 time right, 2 times up, 1 time down, select and 2 times right....after go to option and choose the level you want. :)

The order from left to right is 1, 3, 4, 10, 5, 6, 7, 9, 8, 2. For the javelin throw mash B until you step onto the first line on the floor and HOLD A until the angle is 45 at the bottom of the screen, then RELEASE A.
