i was 10. My parents grocery shopped at Fiesta and at a corner they had 2 arcade machines. Metal slug and Marvel vs Capcom 2. Being the lil gamer i was i had an hour to play this every weekend. always made it to mission 4. Now im 23, this is nostalgic to me.

Hi friend they released an anthology collection. it goes up too metal slug 1 through 6 and has metal slug x with is I believe a secondary version of metalslug 2 and they even have new games in the series after metal slug 6 I believe the newest game is metal slug tactics (still in development )

First time I ever saw Metal Slug was not at an arcade, but an arcade machine at a Wal-Mart. I laid my eyes upon the Neo Geo cabinet, saw this, said what the hell it looks fun. Popped in my quarter and proceeded to have a grand old time. I eventually got home ports of the game on Saturn and PS2 (Anthology), as well as X on PS1. I would not see another MS machine till many years later when at a casino waiting to see Cheech and Chong live, I walked into it's arcade. Inside was a dedicated SNK cab with Metal Slug 2 in it. No autofire like the home ports, so my right hand was hurting fiercely from pounding the fire button, but it was pain all in good fun, so it didn't bother me that my hand hurt like a bitch after. A year or two ago, went to a local Play N Trade, and what did my eyes see, a Metal Slug X PCB in a Japanese Sega Astro City Cabinet. I did the civil thing when I saw it, I played it knowing I had a very nice PS2 version of it back home. When I did go home that day, that arcade machine made me pull out of my copy of Anthology, and have fun with Metal Slug X. That MSX PCB was eventually replaced with yet another favorite, Vampire Savior. Shame though when I went, the buttons were busted on the cab, and the guys at PnT had no idea how to fix it, so they want to replace it with a Killer Instinct cab, blah unless Vampire Savior is kept in it (they also have a Third Strike in a candy cab, and had a 4 player Turtles in Time cabinet that they took out). I could live without Killer Instinct as to me it hasn't held up with time, but Vampire Savior, like Metal Slug, is timeless.

Honestly I think this is the best Metal Slug game. Main reason is because it wasn't too ridiculous and was completely realistic. The others are still great but this is the best.

A Metal Slug would be so OP if it was real. Light armor that can shrug off direct hits from rockets, high speed tracks, full 360 degree cannons and it can jump/crouch. Damn.

Metal slug is the military and throwback games in this history of SNK. The Ikari team was ralf and clark had an appearance on metal slug 6. But this was king of fighters 25 years making.

One of the better metal slug games was definitely this one as it stuck to a mainly military based theme whiched kept it somewhat clean in terms of enemies... the only other one I really liked even tho I have played them all was 2 as it was the easiest one to complete..the others in the series after metal slug X got a bit stupid imo with all the alien based storyline shit and for me made it somewhat of an off-put to play..
