I remember playing this on my PC Engine when I was a kid! But one thing I can't remember is the exploding cakes that Koala throw at the stage about 08:42 into the video. Do you die from the cakes touching you as well as from the explosion?

No, you can find the secret room and go to round 51 anytime if you remember the password shown in the bad ending.

I prefer this version to the arcade and I bet it's easier.

Easier, yes, better than the arcade original, no. Lots of detail in the enemies and backgrounds, like the trees at the beginning kind of hurt this version of the game. At least it turned out better than The New Zealand Story on the same console though.
