I've also had a different freeze, that isn't talked about much. Phone won't start but simply sits on the red colored battery charging image. Solution - no reboot no reset will work. Be patient and let it charge for an hour or so. Eventually it will start. This means the battery needs to be replaced else u will this issue and sudden crashes more often. Another thing with bad batteries - even if phone displays 20% (or even 30%) it doesn't mean it actually has that amount of battery still left. It is based on the original specs of the battery and over time even if u fully charge it, internally the worn-out battery can save only a smaller portion of the charge. Hence u will experience sudden crashes near abouts 20%.

After shutting off the screen with power and home button, when it stops looping, let go the power button, but keep holding the home button. Then, it goes into DMU recovery mode, then plug it into a pc. I don't know if iTunes can reset it, but from there I used ReiBoot to fix it. I suggest u restore it .just now I restored I lost all my apps but I didn't lose my photos i entered my iCloud ID number all my pictures exist but there is no app it looks like new iPhone if u can by yourself that is ok if can't just go to ur area App Store they will restore it for u and u may pay very small amount .

My iPhone 6 Plus is in bootloop an I hold on to the power bottom and the home bottom then the volume up bottom for about 5 to 10 minutes my iPhone popped up but if I leave for 5 minutes unattended it goes back into bootloop by itself however my phone isn't jailbreak I just did an ios upgrade an it went into bootloop.
