I'm not sure who went down there at the end, but that was incredibly sad. I hope he's alright and is able to continue. I understand that pain, to an extent.

The last dude encapsulates why I would never attempt the Dakar unless I was a billionaire. I am familiar with the paperwork, the money, the training, the prelim raid series, the travel, the shipping, the time, the effort, the help from everyone you know.... it is a mountain to climb, just to get to the Start line. If I wrecked on Day 5 I would be suicidal. I wouldn't speak of it for the rest of my life.

The most unfriendly rally of the. world!!!
@CharlesFreck10 күн бұрын
If you don't need to be 'comfortable' then you can do it around 80k. If you want more support and comfort 100-130k. Not including the fact you need to qualify of course, you'll need 30k for that. If you're upper middle class or above, assuming you get a few sponsors, then doing the Dakar is very achievable atleast once without a huge expense, and you can't just go do the Dakar straight away, you have to qualify, have the license, so you'd have to have been doing rally raid for a couple years atleast, which implies it would be a long term hobby and not a one time expense. Billionaire is a stretch and then a few more. It's about as pricey as most racing series.

Trucks are boring! and also, nobody cares outside of Russia. Are you Russian?
@CharlesFreck10 күн бұрын
Trucks have always been my favourite part, but they give them no coverage anymore. I just wish we'd get more trucks, and a little more coverage on the rally motil and classic classes. I don't want a full break down, just 30 seconds of footage and then the results.

How do you get speeding penalties in a race like Dakar?
@CamziOG15 күн бұрын
In rallies there are zones with maximum speed, usually around villages. It is well written in the roadbook and you also have an alarm on the bike that goes of when speeding. If you go above the speed limit in those areas you are penalized.

Lack of defining classes and separation of the class reporting makes it a mush other than visual definition... different machines. Same with team names and drivers. A new generation in reporting comes forth...

You haven't been watching it. At the end of the last update they told you how to find the longer updates and why these are short. If you don't want to watch the hour long updates he told you about check, out podcasts like Dakar Rally Daily.

Typical exhausted rider after marathon stage... Dakar org are selling danger and drama on camera, it is their trade mark, but at the cost of who? Too many blind people find that as an exploit... So sad... I just hope that poor guy finish healthy Sorry girl, appreciate your concern in that moment, but the Dakar it is NOT the hardest, nope. It is the MOST dangerous and unfriendly rally of the world. Nuance!
