Back when a scrum didn't take 5 mins 3 resets and was a exciting part of the game, fix them or lose them..sort it out ffs world rugby.
@JP1234815 Жыл бұрын
Interestingly, commentators/pundits at the time were beginning to express their annoyance at how long the scrum was taking! In the 70's right up until the early 90's the scrum was as quick as the Rugby league scrum is today.

I remember thinking the anthems sounded kind of angelic at this World cup. This one however sounded a bit too Aussie for me (y'know.... a bit nasal).

Eng shud win the final, I think..
@Alfonzridesagain4 жыл бұрын
You can focus on how Wilkinson kicked infinitely better than Michalak that day and that was clearly a factor in the result. But England just so much fitter, meaner and more up for it than the French, especially in the second half. They played a brutal territory and possession game that no-one had an answer to in this era
@JP1234815 Жыл бұрын
A lot of sides were wary of giving penalties away in their own half - due to Wilkinson's accuracy. Teams also didn't know whether to go in hard because England could just as easily give Wilkinson (who would be standing in the pocket) and go for a drop goal!

So strange how all the high shots and tip tackles are deemed ok but the hit on wilkinson was deemed late. it's a completely different game but hugely entertaining

I remember the national anthems here being unbelievable. I’m English but the end of La Marseilles here had the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end.

La Marseillaise is the most beautiful freedom (that turned into a tyranny) song of all time and forever. You godda understand the lyrics to get the proper dimension of it. It's not just as basic as God save the king (no offense to british people) and even tho I discovered there are more verse to god save the king before writing this comment. La Marseillaise is just more emotionnal and deep in my opinion, and not just because I'm french I think. Anyway, I remember that game, and we could do nothing against England. It was frustrating. But in a sense, it was good to see an european country to win the world cup. Hope it happens to France someday.

@Siegfried18 Don't bother with them. They can only see Dominici blindly reacting. They completely ignore the fact that Johnson purposefully grabbed Dominici by the throat (for no reason whatsoever) ...and was cynically squeezing his larynx in order to try to get Dominici to react!

This latest England team could well emulate this illustrious Word Cup winning team come 2023. I'm not an Englishman, but credit where it's due. Come 2023, the English will be more mature, in body, and experience; a different 'animal', than the one that did so well for it's youthfulness in 2019, for me.
