Against the South Africans during the last World Cup we lost too many points due to a lack of precision, we were bad in the Ruck, we were physically exhausted from the last 15 minutes of the match, all that at this level makes us lose the match. I'm French, and imo the ranking during this time period is as follows: - Ireland #1 - AB #2 - France #3 - RSA #4 I know this is not the path the world cup took. But nonetheless, Ireland was just so damn good, a joy to watch. I remember seeing the AB-Ireland match, it was hands down the best rugby match I ever saw. A pure beauty of technical skills and strategic pressure. And even though Ireland did not win this one, they still appeared to be the favourite in every of their matches. Btw, please remember that each of these 4 teams won and lost a match against 2. France>AB Ireland>RSA AB>Irlande RSA>France So quite funny

Having the best rugby team is absolutely useless. Like in most team sports where there's a lot of money involved, what matters is cunning, rigging the matches, knowing how to be dominated and score with the least effort using an ugly game that throws the opponent off, etc. That's why the French will never win the Rugby World Cup-they're too much of aesthetes and respect the sport too much. Just like the Dutch will never win the Football World Cup, etc. It’s beautiful, but it’s useless apart from pleasing the viewers. In the end, the French will remain eternal losers.
