Sam Whitelock was the king of diving in to snatch the ball off Ireland to receive an All-Black Peantly right at Full Time. Fair play to Ireland. But man! The ref isn't perfect, and the "mistakes" evens out. All teams gets disadvantaged. People should stop complaining and saying their team lost because of the ref. SA had problems with the ref, NZ also, Ireland, England, France, etc. Everyone was disadvantaged at one point or another. When you lose, you lose.

I'm not sure the release was clear - and I've rewatched it... it would have been a brave decision. Advantage to the attackers when not CLEAR is a good way to go... it's a very tricky part of the law that has changed interpretation without much change in actual wording - most modern turn-overs like this would have been "hands in the ruck" in the past...
