There are several reasons why Ireland lost this game (arrogance not being a substitute for talent being one) but Sexton's dreadful performance must be top of the list. He looked old, slow and tired from kick off and got older, slower and more tired looking as the game wore on. He did absolutely nothing to advance Ireland's game, getting rid of the ball as soon as got to him, shying away from contact (he never liked tackling) and adding zero creativity, absolutely nothing. It should have been obvious before this, Sexton's last game, that to advance beyond the quarter finals Ireland needed someone in the 10 shirt with energy and flair, not some whiny (goodness, he does complain a lot) clapped-out has-been

Advantage to the attackers when not CLEAR is a good way to go... it's a very tricky part of the law that has changed interpretation without much change in actual wording - most modern turn-overs like this would have been "hands in the ruck" in the past...

When I get upset I like to watch Ireland successfully continue their dominant run of quarter final exits. They are quite simply the best at it and it warms my heart to see them celebrate their success across the globe every four years.
