The bossa devs are clearly passionate about this project, and it didn't make money, so it's not like it's a cashgrab.

I suspect the professionally developed game will move faster though, since it has been years since development started on voids adrift. WA is a game that is absurdly hard to replicate due to SpacialOS, the server and physics tech, etc. I'm glad the voids adrift team has been working at it, but I think it'll be a while before they can successfully get far, especially without much funding/entirely self motivated :s

Damn, is it just me or does this song sound like it could describe a sequel. No hidden meanings or anything, just taking the lyrics at face value. The world breaks down, and you, the atals pilot wake up after a large amount of time, new civilizations have taken shape atop the rubble and ruin of the fallen islands. After finding a town, you look around and notice that their technology consists of fragments of ships thag fell with the islands. Talking with the locals, you discover that there are other atlas pilots that have awakened over the years and you hear mention of a familiar name, your first mate and best friend, also an atlas pilot had awakened in the same area but a few years prior. The game follows you as you make your way through this fallen world stumbling on fragments of the past and creating hope for the future of this dark world all while following the trail of clues, connections and footprints left ny your friend. Through this adventure, you also discover more about what happened in the span of time you were asleep as well as the reason behind the great fall.

Even though i never had the chance to actually experience the game, i fell in love with it trough other people's videos, it was my dream to play this game, now, today, almost 6 years later, i return only to see that the game has shut down. Just pretend with me for a moment, and once again you'll find yourself sailing the skies. Building your ship, maybe roleplaying yourself as a traveling merchant even building your ship full of containers. Or maybe a quick schooner, traveling the lands and barely making it even through the storm wall, you and your crew trying to desperately hold the ship together. Time spent on the wiki looking at all the different materials, where to find them. Scanning everything and collecting every fragment of the lore books that you can, each codex fueling your desire to set forth once more. Remember moving from wind power to engine power? Maybe you were unlucky like my and didn't realize mantas hated engine sounds and started freaking out when you were soloing and suddenly you're swarmed by mantas. Or not realizing that chopping down trees aggroed those stupid thuntomites that seemed to send you absolutely flying Speaking of flying around, the grappling mechanism... I forget which island, but there was one that had a cave with visible holes to the outside and I remember using it to practice my grappling and I got so good. So dang good. The pvp battles you may or may not have taken part of. I remember i got conscripted into a group - a sort of "join us or die" after they started attacking. I submitted as it was 5v1 and man the adventures I had with them, roleplaying, being a scourge of the skies. I remember we almost lost once, but I grappled to their ship, swung above it, and shot the captain. It was amazing. Now, we may all be adrift across the skies away from one another once more, but we remain together in our hearts. I don't remember the usernames of most I played with, but I remember the help I got, I remember the enemies I've made, those I may have hurt and those that may have hurt me. I remember you, even if we are now worlds apart, now adrift

I always imagine that the visuals start and end with someone falling out of the sky. They were an archaeologist of some capacity, searching for pieces of stories from the old era of Foundation. They saw many great wonders in their adventures, but they ended up being hunted down by pirates. They tried to evade the cannon fire, but now they’ve locked on. Cannon shells impact the hull, one by one. With each shot, another portion of what the explorer collected is destroyed. Alarms of all kinds are going off. Panic. Must go on. It can’t end like this. Fuel tank is compromised. Atlas core is in critical state, one more hit and- *boom* The explosion rocks the hull of the ship, shredding it and flinging its pilot out of the helm. Now the explorer falls. It may only take mere moments for them to fall into the clouds below, never to be seen again, but for the explorer, it felt like hours, days, maybe even years. They fall, and their last moments have them see all they hold dear in the world shredded and burned in the blast. All their hard work. Gone. But they die with only one regret, they aren’t mad about what they lost, that the pirates destroyed them utterly, with no regard for the cargo. No, they regret not seeing enough.

This game has a strong anchor to my mind. I was there for it’s start and even have more own lore called “meeting Metal” it was there way of thanking the original backers of the game. It hurt more then anything to see this game fall apart and I have heard they haven’t given up on the game yet and it brings so much bitter happiness to hear that. Especially since even now I still have a small flame burning in me for this game. Waiting for the day it comes back to life. This song makes me tear up with all the adventures I had and all the people I met.

Mike Watts I just like how KZbin generates playlist automatically for me with different songs and what not. Also have KZbin premium for no ads and background music too. Spotify doesn’t have a wide selection of music compared in my opinion, like sometimes lower tier songs that are popular may not be on Spotify too.

I once tracked several songs from a 1973 free flexi disk from a copy of NME that I once owned, but similar flexi disk with Hurricane Fighter Plane track was not to be found, I still search it out from time to time, there are other versions, but not that one... Ha ha, just realised that both those tracks were very crackly which added to the original charm. Horses for courses...

Been playing Forever Skies recently. It doesnt hsve the same magic as WA especially considering its SP but the shipbbuilding mechanics andd the vibe come pretty darn close. Check tthis game out if youre looking for something to fill the void a little

It was because of the coding of the game and the coding used for the servers. It used single shard technology the required special servers. The shards code got upgraded. But this basically disrupted the games coding. In order for them to continue the game, they would of had to rewrite the entire code for the game.
