Oscillating tool would probably work fine! BUT NOT if you are gonna use it daily as an installer!! It WILL probably fall apart with HEAVY use! lol

I built a somewhat large shed and used some surplus loose lay. It worked very well and took about 4 hours. I only had to level some seams in the OSB floor.

Really love this type of flooring materials, but how does it handle with heavy furniture like legs of couche, bed, dining table? How does it handle from furniture being dragged on to of it?

Wife bought this for the bsmt. I thought it was to good to be true. But holy hell, it's the best easy-to-use diy. I used double sided tape for the planks near the wall. Worked out great.

@Juliet Elisabeth I had a flood in the bsmt since I put it down. Pulled it up, dried it off and put it back down in reverse of how I pulled it up. Best flooring ever. Little expensive in canada at 80 a box but worth it.

$4 a sf? Yowzers. I got 4mm thickness and a 20 mil wear layer from FloorsToYourHome for $1.50 a sf. It was on sale from original price of $1.99 a sf. I've bought from them twice now and happy with the quality.

Yeah that's what I looked like at his age. The good old days. Lol. You'll probably laugh when I say this, but my wife would gladly switch our Florida weather right now for your weather. She loves the cold but I tell her we have never really lived in it, we take winter vacations every year instead of summer so we can get some cold weather. It's so hot here year round. She wishes we could move to a cold weather state so bad. Maybe one day I tell her.

What do you recommend for installing over polished hardwood floor? Refinishing the hardwood isn’t really an option; it’s old kinda ugly. It is relatively flat, some small nicks here & there but it’s more slippery than concrete. Should we glue / apply adhesive to every piece?

Have you installed the tiles in this brand? I am considering the stone of the da vinci line. I think they are 12 x 18. It can be installed with grout lines, and they sell their own grout strips. I think this would have to be a glue down install.

In this brand I have not but have installed the Da Vinci but I have installed a similar type of tile with grout strips before in the Amtiko brand. It came out amazing and my clients always love it. I've even done the ones with the diamond inserts in the corners. Amtiko had different types of adhesive depending on where the product was being installed. So you just want to make sure you get the right adhesive and check with Kardean for their requirements because I know they also have many types of adhesive and it can get confusing. I find that its sometimes a good idea to call the customer service for technical advise and ordering questions. So many times even the local dealers don't even get the orders right because they are not as familiar with these type of products that require stuff like grout joints and sometimes special adhesive. I can't tell you how many times my clients order the wrong materials because someone at the flooring store they ordered from didn't know what to order.

This looks almost too good to be true, but now I am wondering how to get my concrete floor which is not in great shape to a workable condition.

That is the "to good to be true" part if your concrete is not really flat. This product needs really flat concrete to be successful. If your concrete is not flat you need to do some leveling. The easiest way to do this is to use self leveler. Keep in mind that no natter what product you install your going to have to do some type of leveling if your concrete is in really bad shape. Other products might not need to be as perfect, but there isn't any type of floor that can be laid over bad concrete beside maybe carpet. Its a matter of how the new floor is going to feel when you walk on it. You don't want the floor all springy and hollow sounding which is what happens when you install over bad concrete. Hope this was helpful.

Excellent video. Couple of questions: We are planning to install in our new home over the Advantec sub-floor. Do you foresee issues? Would the anti-slip backing do better if we applied a paint to the subfloor? Lastly, we have planned a couple in-floor outlets. Any thoughts/precautions when dealing with those? Thanks!

These planks stick like shit! But only if you have a solid concrete subfloor or levelling compound even better! We used insulated foil in between concrete subfloor and the planks and was slippy as hell , so we took out the insulation foil and the planks did not move !

Did You touch on if this is water proof or resistant? Can’t imagine it is! Also, if your floor isn’t perfect (ours is wood) can you lay a sub layer under! I’m thinking not. Thanks for your videos!

Yes it is waterproof not resistant. So yes you could do new layer of wood underlayment over the old subfloor. However your floor will be waterproof but everything under your floor won't be waterproof if its wood. So if you did have a big water damage you would have to probably remove the flooring to dry out the sublfloor, then you could reinstall the flooring once its dried out. Which I have done many times for clients. Hope I answered everything without confusing you.

I think I’m following what you’re saying: the floor material is waterproof but if you spill on it, the floor under it will NOT be protected from it. Correct? I haven’t researched this floor (saw it for the 1st time on your channel!) but I can see how people (me!) may get confused if the manufacturer put “water proof” on the box without clarifying that the floor MATERIAL is completely waterproof but there is no protection for the floor underneath.

It is confusing. So yes any wood underneath the vinyl flooring will not be waterproof unless you have a concrete subfloor.

Its a unique products for sure. Supposedly my clients had this same products installed over a year ago in a church near one of their other homes and the floor has been doing great. It would be nice to see prices go down so more people can afford vinyl. Unfortunately a lot of people still go with laminate because its cheaper.

Yes, I staggered the planks just like a normal floor. I like to use the leftover piece that I end the row with, to start the next row. This give you a staggered and a random look every time. It also keeps the waste to a minimum. Its a great product. Tim

@@JonesKnows thank you very much for replying... I'm actually doing the loose they install right now!! although there are areas where the rows are completely flush and then there are some tiny sections where there is a very very small gap is this okay between planks. Is this normal?

I’m sorry I didn’t see your question! I just realized I only get notified, of NEW comments not reply’s! Sorry! No you want it to be tight with no gaps. You really should try to close the seams completely and if there are any no matter what you try they just won’t close, that’s where you’ll want to use some adhesive.

@@JonesKnows no worries and thanks for the response. Yes I actually laid adhesive throughout the whole floor but couldn't shake certain gaps. I was more concerned about kids spilling drinks and water or vomit seeping thru haha.

You can, but I’d probably skim coat (float, it comes pre mixed) the joints not the whole floor just the grout lines/ joints. So that you don’t take a Chance having the grout lines telegraphing through

No. The back of the floor is designed to grip the concrete so it doesn't slide.

Nope, the planks actually have a non slip back that grips the concrete and keeps the planks from sliding.
