i amazed at how frequently they miss the headpin

That’s frequent in Candlepin: no oil patterns and the small ball is lighter but tougher to aim at the thin pins. Both teams averaged about 2 in 3, which is generally great here. This is the challenge that mainstream bowling can be, we believe! Hope you enjoy. ~Greg G 🙂

Never bowled candlepin or even watched but was taught 10 pins by several of the greatest players ever to lace up. 10 pin is nothing more than a game of dominoes, the ball contacts 4 pins and from there and if done perfectly is precisely set into motion a specific job that each pin must do. No kickbacks required for talented 10 pin players and high rev rate is over rated. Keep pins low, know the angle of entry and break point and blah blah blah. In short, I plan to try candlepin and see the similarities. As an extremely technical 10 pin player that if required can throw a frozen rope with the best of them, so i am sure at this I will also be great (lol). Zero wasted moves in my entire and balanced approach to include preshot routine. 10 pin was great until us center owners opened up the shot in the late 70s with the transition to hard finishes. I knew then propping up players with inflated scoring would spell doom for the sports integrity and the governing body would not do their only job and protect it. By nature of being a small ball bowling variation candlepin appears to be free of this and actually takes some skill and where a practiced and consistent player is rewarded. As for 10 pin, those days have long since sailed and looking forward to soon choosing a center and giving this game a shot. 20 bucks game against this newbie anyone? I will win.
