middle to late June. You can phone the rose gardens and if you get through there is an automated service which tells you about what state the flooring of the roses are. the roses in Mottisfont are very old scented roses and from my experience tend to flower a week or two earlier than hybrid tea gardens

John...do you live in England? that is where I fell in love so many years ago with the English Gardens....Felt like I belonged there....came back to America, always trying year after year to establish something like this....your video is fantastic...smell the roses! Karen

thankyou Karen, just seen your comment, only 3 years ago, please forgive, hope you are well - yes i am english and the garden is near southampton. You know one evening i was in this garden on my own and it was extremely hot. All the roses are very old varieties, very hard to find, and of course they are very perfumed. I was standing therefore in this glorious scent looking at trees 1500 years old thinking this is paradise, i thought it was so quintessentially english, i could have been transported back to September 1940 and i wouldn't have noticed An old gentleman approached me and we had a lovely chat. He was worried about roses because people are starting to breed roses more for colour and hardiness, rather than scent It was such a perfect early evening i will always recall it, there was also a strong wind, and blackbirds everywhere singing For a moment I ws there back in England in hen the countryside was quiet, people were in the armed forces and i could see vapour trails in the sky which could have been from the Battle Of Britain
