One of the best snooker matches I've ever seen PERIOD. It was dramatic, entertaining and everything Snooker should be! And Kudos to both Si & Luca, but I mean just this victory alone is gonna have Brecel's name etched in Snooker folklore but I seriously believe that this, along with Selby's late finish is gonna stand him in pretty good stead for the final! Congrats Luka! Such a humble, pragmatic and considerate professional. Would love to have seen Si Jia Hui win, but hats off to Luka and Mark for being just a little better. Impressed by all players interviewed. Each seem humble in their victories and respectful of their opponents. To get to their level of play requires intelligence and thousands of hours of practice. They are craftsmen, that chance their careers on making the difficult less difficult via tenacity, focus and a gift from God.

Ben Mertens had a good run in a recent event (I think that in the Welsh Open he reached the last 16), and he had a decent run in the World Championship - eventually lost to Jimmy Robertson but gave him a tough match. Of course, Julien Leclercq got to the final of the shootout, so there is definitely talent in Belgium. But generally, there are new players from all over Europe - Andres Petrov from Estonia and Anton Kazakov from Ukraine (although from what I've seen, they do lack the fluency of snooker as the three from Belgium), but I think Luca's run is definitely good for snooker on a global level.

Yeah what WAS that? I mean he denies the blue and then plays that speculative extreme high risk shot that is a 3 or 4 out of 10 at best. I was screaming at the top of my voice for him to not take that shot casue he was starting to look good again after that last frame. At first I thought he got away with it. But then Luca slots in that incredible red. But that's just the thing: He still has TWO chances to take that match. If it doesn't go in he can still have another go. But Si ... that was his last chance and consecutively his last shot of the match. So here is the next question: If you're 14:5 up why o why would you try to protect that lead. That wasn't his natural game and whoever told him to play it safe cost him the match. I understand if you're 2 up with 5 to play or something like that. But you can literally let your arm go and go for it at 14:5. As soon as the guy gets to 10 ok!.... Maybe reign it in a bit. But he literally had umpteen chances to win. I know Luca played amazing. But you're gonna get your chances against an all out attacking player. Let him come. If I don't pot the first three chances and he goes up 3 frames guess what the fourth chance will be mine and I'll be only two steps away while he is still 10 steps away. It's like Ludo. I can only win if I keep doing what I'm doing. Idk that bothered me a lot. Welp! What can you do...
