Trump will be reassessing all this and ask can Ronnie play any better or can Trump play better than this next time. Ronnie will need his pure genius again and this means snooker like nothing ever seen before. Hope he can do it ...... Iconic!

Does anybody know what I mean - that some of these players, - including these two - are "not like anyone else"? Most people are similar to a few others, they seem - a bit - to be 'that TYPE" - But I don't know anybody who is like either of these guys, Martin Amis is a bit like Ronnie, but this sport somehow creates unique individuals. Anyone else feel this? J.

The only comparable player like Ronnie is probably myself. We ‘re unique in every way. ❤

It's subtler than a lot of other sports, perhaps due to intensity/'action'. Snooker has personality in shot selection, pressure managment e.t.c... as well as the obvious cue action, power, white control, rest play, and safety/angles. There is so much room for individuality, and for unique individuals to stand out above the top 1%; it's just perhaps less obvious for a lay person to pick up on compared to other sports. There's definitely an art to be seen amongst all the percentage play. To your point, I think players like these two rise above that even more because they do things very few players either can do, or chose to do in matchplay. A lot of top players are known for specialty areas and then you have the greatest players who do it all; I think their table personality comes out because they do everything else so consistently well. Importantly, there's also the personality and aura surrounding someone playing. I think it's akin to some goals that are scored in football when, if it was Messi who scored it, the emotion and appreciation is lifted around it because it's built upon everything he did before, and continued to do so consistently. Snooker wears its personality on its socks, not sleeves.
