Another adage "Respect is earned not given" I agree with that, the teens need to earn the parent's respect however that goes both ways. I'm never sure what to feel when they take the kid's cigarettes away because on one hand, if you let them keep it then they'll take it as ground to walk all over you. If you take it, then they'll have withdrawals and will be naturally pissed and stressed. Why not just get them patches or nicotine gum? There's a million ways for them to not smoke and also not have to go cold turkey.

If they were at least 18 (some of them were), then it would've been okay depending on the state. The age in the US to smoke now is 21 everywhere, so if it happened today then it would be illegal. What I'm more curious about is how these underaged teens got alcohol and cigarettes through US and British customs.
