More people need to see this. Too many folks i've met from outside of Chicago don't see or understand the humanness of these young brothers caught in the struggle, this video does a good job of showing that. As well as highlighting one of the main problems: lack of role models and not enough opportunities (hip hop can not be the ONLY way out). There has to be a way to help.

Not having a role model/role models isn't a good enough reason (excuse) for young men growing up and going down the wrong path. Everyone's got their own mind, kids who grow up in ghettos like these are most often really smart kids because they've had to grow up sharp and keep their mind about them so it's not like they didn't know any different or was influenced by the wrong crowd, the majority of these kids are sharp as a razor and they know the score from a very early age, if they end ip dead or in jail they definitely could've done things to avoid being on the roads that make that shit happen. Cut the excuses and the "lack of role models" crap bro we both know that that's a cop-out

@w0rloko 7 жыл бұрын
Melvin Vernell I'm kinda curious what you might mean there, though, I think a more interesting line of investigation would be how Chicago is a hub for Cartel trafficking, and in the past presidential administration... The ATF let the Cartel buy a lot of high quality firearms... and you see all these fucking machine guns all over the streets. Chicago also has a quite corrupt local government (See: "How the Chicago Police covered up a gang of Criminal Cops.") Then you can look into how the U.S. Govt has been bringing Drugs into the country through various organizations (CIA, DEA mostly) for straight decades, started with the Lucky Luciano and the Mafia in the 20's and in the 70's and 80's they worked with South American Organized Crime which Gary Webb documented extensively in his book "Dark Alliance." Some say CIA drug trafficking continues today and that's an interesting idea considering the Upsurge of Heroin in America. It is more noticeable in some cities than others (Pittsburgh PA has a drugs inc episode,) and the idea is that under the Taliban- Afghanistan's heroin production was very very low, and after the U.S. occupied Afghanistan, with soldiers actively guarding the poppy fields They are now the top producer of Heroin in the world. Not to blame everything on the government though sadly a lot of people aren't familiar with CIA Drug Trafficking (LET ALONE THEIR INFLUENCE IN MUSIC AND MOVIES) and like to blame everything on these communities. But, it's a fucking crazy world we live in and things tend to connect in some hard to believe patterns sometimes, but thankfully facts don't need to be believed! There ain't no poppy fields, coke plantations, or gun factories in the hood. Also, J. Edgar Hoover who ran the FBI for over 40 years was a racist and I hear a lot about how the FBI helped remove a lot of Black community community leaders ((Generally people talk about Malcom X (The FBI leaked to The Nation that he was leaving and also tried to blackmail MLK Jr. into Suicide) but I think that idea does apply strongly to the removal of the leadership of gangs. No leadership/ positive Role Models, destruction of all the State high-rises, and the CIA-led influx of cocaine and heroin seem to be some of the primary contributions to these conditions but you don't ever see anybody talk about them!

@@JennaLeigh yeah you can see Durks PTSD even during interviews. In a safe place, media watching, security around, that man’s still on his toes staying alert, and eyeing everything around him. I’ve seen a lot of comments on different videos, “that Durk always looks scared.” It’s him being alert though, ALWAYS! He’s always 1 steps ahead of the game. Rap or streets. That why he saw that talent in Von early on. He helped nurture and develop Von into a legit big talent. Imagine where King Von would be today. Crazy to think about.

Yeah he still dissing dead people that his OTF/600 gang is enemies with and he's getting his friends and family that still reside in Chicago killed because of his fkn mouth he's in ATL safe taunting dead gang members in Chicago and the family and friends he has that still lives there are paying for it🙄look up how many people he lost since he's been rapping it's sick the only reason his father even still alive because he just got out of jail last year from doing 22 years Durk lost his brother his cousins his friends his manager his best friend a couple of his artist it's like he's cursed but you'd think that would stop him but nah he keeps making songs dissing dead rivals getting other people closer to him killed and I don't respect that at all!

No he contributed to making this violence worse by dissing gang members on wax, if he was real he’d be trying to call a truce with his enemies or at least apologizing to all the mothers who’s sons he dissed

Let me start by saying I was born and raised on the streets of Chi-Town, and if we are ever going to be anything in life...let's be realist. Anyone who promotes this or chooses this life for themselves/others is much to all of the reasons why those who came before us, who fought, bled and even died so we may have something in life...their work and even death has become in vain. We should be ashamed we decide to allow our weaknesses to rule and lead us. We should be ashamed we willingly chose to be apart of our people's/communities destruction. We should be ashamed we willingly chose to become poor role models for our children, poor partners for their mothers etc regardless of the consequence. We should be ashamed to believe we should be seen for anything other than savages that's not worthy of their freedom/life. We should be ashamed to not want to be a part of the solution of our world, but instead we choose to be a part of the problem. I can go on about us as a people and no one can stop me with the facts that prove the opposite. Unfortunately I'm right, and that's what hurts the most. Remember, it's never to late to change...I did and I love the result. I am the opposite today of everything negative I mentioned, and will continue to be so. Everything is still a choice, good or bad. We choose how we're going to play out our days no matter how much influence is present. Being strong for loved ones/self is challenging, but needed. It takes courage/strength to lead family and self in the right direction. Stop following death to your grave and the grave of others. I chose life, because my family and I are worth living for, and yes if I can change...anyone can change...peace!
