I think that WCQ’s playing style is a good counter to all the speedsters (players that focus on speed and rallies) such as Felix, Harimoto and (normally) LSD. His powerful unique shots - where WCQ manages to perfectly distribute the amount of speed and spin depending on the situation - are extremely hard to receive and block. His style consists of relentless such powerful shots in the first exchanges with tolerable errors. He also has a very reliable Chiquita flick shot in addition to his forehand main shot, a splendid footwork and body coordination and is good at short play. I’m simply not surprised that he managed to beat Harimoto so easily because this one simply couldn’t properly receive or block the ball so as to initiate fast exchanges from a comfortable positioning. This could also explain why WCQ had ups and downs this season because his unique playing style requires so much physical energy to be effective. Just look every time at how he’s bending low on its knees to deliver those powerful forehand shots. That’s a lot of pressure on the knees and on the lower back.

This is the tournament where the top 16 players in the world play against each other. Realistically, Harimoto's only tough opponent was Lin Shidong the rising youth who was already on fire all tournament but choked massively against Harimoto. Wang Chuqin played against Kallberg who beat him few weeks ago and Moregaard who also beat WCQ in the Olympics. It's natural that the whole tournament feels tough since only top players are in the draw.

Great tournament WCQ, when he doesn't miss his shots his almost unbeatable, but when he's bad he's really bad. Similar to Harimoto actually, although Harimoto has much lower ceiling. LSD is opposite, he only had one bad match against Felix, but his ceiling is still not that great. I really hope either WCQ will start being consistent or LSD will improve, because finals like this or FZD vs Truls at the Olympics are super boring

I was happy for a non all Chinese final. But Harimoto played like crap, laughing and smiling while the game was 10-2. I stopped watching. We all have our favorite players and fellow country wo/men to cheer for. But at the end, if you really love the game. You want to see a competitive final and that was not it. whether his service is not vertical enough is debatable, and whether its hidden is hard to tell bc of the angle we are given, since all that really matters is whether the ball is hidden to the receiver. As for him serving above the table.... I don't think he does that at all, yes he serves closer to the table than most, but he clearly starts the toss just outside the table and tosses it back parallel with the table, so when he connects with the ball its naturally going to be close but still inches or less behind the table.

After losing the first two games, Harimoto's high game intelligence allowed him to adapt on the spot and change his strategy, instead of sticking to the approach he used in the first two games. In contrast, Lin Shidong's playstyle is overly focused on his backhand, with no effective counter-strategy in his serves. At critical moments, he also fails to fully execute the coach's tactics. If it weren’t for some lucky shots in the fourth game, he probably would have lost 2-4 much earlier. So when I referred to low game intelligence, I was talking about Lin Shidong.
