My numbers don't match: At time index 1:52:24, ATM W/D from bank of $400, deposited to Cash. The final results are: Cash on Hand $1200, Chase Bank $8000. I was able to match these. But then at time index: 1:58:00 the balances are Cash on Hand $800, Chase Bank $8000 are off by $400 each. At time index: 2:02:48 all my numbers match, except I have Cash on Hand $1200, Chase Bank $6900. $400 difference from the video for each. Did something happen with the $400 deposit to Cash from the Bank at the first time index? Thanks.

Thank you for being a loyal student than a loyal fan but unfortunately I do not have the numbers that memorized You have to use logic and the type of logic that we learned in the course to figure out what type of transaction you made the mistake with by looking at the specific accounts of the trial balance that are not correct That will give you a clue as to which transaction was recorded incorrectly This video does show how to find and fix Mistakes by opening up the trial balance So make sure you reviewed that part of the video and apply that and I'm sure you will find your mistake

Hi, I have a question. So at 1:55:00 . At the end of chapter 12, Cash on hand balance is 1.200 and Chase Bank is 7.600. Why in the beginning of Chapt 13 at 1:57:58, the balance is different? Is it because you don't include the last example of chapt 12?

Hi, thank you for the reply. What I meant was the cash on hand balance should be 1200 and the Chase Bank balance should be 7600 by the end of chapt 12. And they should stay the same at the beginning of chapt 13. But, instead they (cash on hand and chase bank) have different balance in the beginning of chapt 13 which are 800 and 8000.

Hi, I have a question. At 48:41 , when I want to make a new account. My quickbooks doesn't show the same as yours. When I want to choose the account type, there is no Bank. But the 'bank' choice is in the detail type. So what should I choose in account type? And there is also no tax form section. What should I do?

I appreciate this video. Please explain why in the video, the purchase of supplies is under the "Supplies Expense" chart of account. I do understand that the transaction itself is an expense, however, I was taught that Supplies is an Asset, and falls under the Asset chart of account labeled "Supplies". Thanks!

If supplies are used as soon as their purchase they can be an expense you don't need to put them as an asset and then make the adjustment later because this is the more practical way to do it Your question is also an accounting question it's not really a QuickBooks functionality question so if you're interested I have a really really great accounting tutorial that explains things clearly in a fun way and if you want I'll send you the link just let me know

How do you record business expenses or credit card payments that are made with credit card reward points? Our company gets reward points with Home Depot and American Express.

Thank you for asking The cost basis concept in accounting dictates that the points are irrelevant For example,if you simply paid $95 for a desk or furniture for your office instead of paying a $100 because of the points. , you would record the purchase at $95. If you don't get the points until afterwards and they lower your credit card balance. , then you have to make a journal entry that decreases the expense or asset of the original purchase by the amount of the reward points.

Question: How do you enter this info into the client account? I have QB Trial with me as the accountant. I have Holden's Wedding Video Co as a client, but when I try to enter customers, vendors, reports, and chart of accounts into that customer, it enters it into my QB, not the client's. I can't seem to find a way to do this. Also, my cursor has become a circle with up & down arrows and a dot in the center and I can't change it back.

Thank you you can split the payment In the expense window, you can put the portion that goes for personal on one line and the portion. That goes for business on the next line The personal portion should have the account category for owners. Withdrawals and the business portion should have the account category for telephone expense or utilities The total of the payment is the same, but the individual lines for the individual accounts should be the amounts respectively Mark

Thank you very much!! "Clean-ups" mean you have many errors. The proper way to "clean-up" is to do your reconciliations for your bank accounbts and your credit card accounts. You also would reconcile vendors and customers if you have them. Thank you for asking You should not link your personal credit or bank account To your quick books and if you do you should disconnect it If there are transactions in the personal account whether it's bank or credit card account, they should be recorded in the capital account register for the withdrawals account register depending on what they are but you should not link a non-business bank account even if that account has a lot of business transactions. When paying down a credit card, why not just use a transfer? It's much simpler. Is there any reason why we are expensing it? or will I get same result as to when I used transfer?

Thank you I had already mentioned that there's always 2 or 3 ways to record the same transaction and get the same results and they all take the same amount of time so if there really is no difference then you can record it the way that you want. Mark

In following your video on the reports section, you shared how to run a Transaction List by Customer however, I do not see that as one of the options in the Quickbooks I have. (Simple Plan). So far I am finding this tutorial very helpful since I do not have an accounting background.

You will have to upgrade your membership or sign up again with a different email with the Free. 330 day trial for the plus version. Yes but remember you must make sure to put the transaction number in the transfer number As long as there's a space for that then you can use either window.. Quickbooks does not allow you to record a negative deposit. Are you saying the bank took money out rather than put it in? What exactly did the bank do with this transaction and I'll let you know what quick books should do. Thank you for watching. I will stay with you until everything is clear Mark

@@worldwidequickbooks I tried to reconcile my account and it didn’t give me a zero balance, after looking around to find out why, I noticed 2 different bank balances( in the deposit section of the bank register) that are in the red which might be causing my reconciliation to not balance out. Thanks, Mark. What an effort on YOUR part to produce such a great instructional video. My only failure in the final exam was I took the "cash payments" for the 2 test items out of the Cash account; instead of the intended Petty Cash account. After correcting this item, I "passed" 100%. Now, I need to move on to the QB suitable for a small bottling company. I will need inventory management. Any direction as to the QB version in this regard would be appreciated. Again, thanks.
