It’s very hard to tell from the audio, but there’s a timeskip at 4:00:50 which isn’t conveyed well through narration. After that, there’s a heavily formatted section of the text which isn’t conveyed well through narration either. I’d recommend going to the original story (parahumans.wordpress.com/2013/07/13/scarab-25-6/) and reading that part there, starting from “Khonsu had apparently had enough, because he extended his hands out to either side”

Usually, I'm not that annoyed with this particular reader. She's nowhere near my favorite but I think people are usually overly angry at her. However, with this chapter I'm starting to doubt if I was correct in my initial judgment. I caught her a lot of slack because for the most part she was incorrectly pronouncing words that most of the other readers also pronounced or that have some amount of controversy. I also think that it is completely fair for an amateur reader to use regional pronunciations for words. Obviously this person speaks with an Irish accent, and I've been informed that she is also South African. Both of these English dialects are famous or infamous, respectively, for idiosyncratic pronunciations. However in this chapter she really is mispronouncing somewhere around 1 word in 10. Even words like facsimile, even words that I've heard her pronounce correctly in the past, even words every other reader has pronounced the same way. The arch 24 reader pronounced Chevalier differently from all the other readers but he also pronounced it correctly where as the author suggests an incorrect pronunciation. This is very understandable. Wildbow suggest a lot of incorrect pronunciations for his character's names. And that's fine, he might be trying to point out that this earth is slightly different than ours or uses some sort of anglicized Hebrew aleph bet... Or maybe he also just doesn't know how to pronounce stuff. My point is I don't mind when someone mispronounces things for an understandable reason, but this is just a badly read chapter. However, I will say that at least within the limits of her microphone she at least reads clearly(although she does make it a bit hard to tell who is talking sometimes, especially in 25.1 and to a lesser extent 25.2)

Meg Jacobs reads like it's off-beat slam poetry. It's an absolute nightmare to focus on. The mispronunciations are easily forgivable but the delivery is beyond difficult to listen to. Honestly a really negative mark on an otherwise amazing project.

"Taylor HEbert" There's only one "r" in the last name, not "HERbert". Thank you for your efforts in putting this epic into audiobook form, but please look up the pronunciations of thee words used. This particular VA adds in a fair amount of extra syllables in words that shouldn't be there. For example, there's no "a" on the end of the name, "Simurgh."

Yeah, the mispronunciation in pretty much all of these is kind of ridiculous. I would think someone who cars enough about the story to record voice readings would think to look up how to pronounce cape names.

To be fair. I also thought it was Herbert the first 100 times I read it. It was such a common mistake that the author(through tailor) spends an entire paragraph in arch 22 or 23 talking about how her name is Hebert not Herbert. The author also spends a paragraph to remind us of the same thing somewhere between 12 and 16 when she actively thinks about how she thought one of the chosen was calling her by her last name when instead he was calling her a Heeb. Which means that even phonetically reading her name correctly is still not correct because her name is pronounced Heebert instead of Hebert.

I don't understand. She can't even Pronounce place names... Even place names in Africa. I am starting to wonder at the age of the reader. Maybe if she was 12 or maybe 13 this would be understandable but otherwise... I'm not getting it. Somalia... Bucharest... She HAD to know Bitch-arrest wasn't correct right? She does so many extraneous pauses but she doesn't even make a sentence break for the time skip. ... I know this is all well good and done but I have to hope she doesn't return for ward.

Meg Jacobs is reading too fast for me (english isn't my first language). I constantly have to rewind and listen to the same thing multiple times in order to line up the sentences to a picture.

It's not her spread, it's her accent. If you aren't a native speaker you probably learned either British or American English, she speaks neither. She speaks South African English with an Irish accent.
