Worms vs Moldy Bread - African Night Crawlers eating moldy bread

NOT a continuous time lapse .. the video would have been too long.
Been keeping worms for about 2 years now and have always wondered what happens in my worm bin. Got myself a small plastic pet container and placed about 80 worms in there to see how long they would take to eat up a slice of bread. On hindsight, I should have put in a smaller piece of bread to speed things up.
Hope you enjoy watching these poop troopers go about their busy job of turning our kitchen scraps into useful worm compost for our plants.
00:00 Day 1 - Adding the worms
00:48 Day 2 - Added water, not much activity
01:05 Day 3 - Worms start to notice the food
02:22 Day 4 - Maggots?? Worms most active today
04:25 Day 5 - Worms seem less active
05:55 Day 6 - More maggots than worms
07:35 Day 7 - Worms are active again
09:30 Day 8 - Feeding from sides only?

Don't know it for a fact but have read that ants will stay away if the moisture is high.

LOL, Just a Pixel 4 phone on a tripod at 120x hyperlapse. I'm surprised it turned out ok...better than the gopro footage 🤣tho the Pixel 4 gets real hot cos I don't think it's designed to film for long time.

What kind of light did you use? Were the worms annoyed by the light?

@@senfzeit Regular ceiling LED and another LED light shining up from the bottom of the pet box (box is on a 12cm stand) The worms can retreat to the back of the pet box which is 12cm x 10cm x 10cm. They find the food easily cos it's a small box but there's enough space for them to hide away from the light.

I find it's perfectly fine to feed them bread... been doing it off and on for 2 years or so and my worms are still thriving. If you're not sure, feed a small amount at a time. Have fun.😀

I was thinking same question, because some says don't feed bread, this video gave the explanation.
