That bearing seems pretty far gone. Maybe upgrading to roller bearings would be better that trying to pour babbit. Did I hear an Old Man noise when you went to get up ? I make those noises all the time now when I have to get up off the ground LOL Those shifters are brilliant! Way to go on those. That is a way better plan than I though might work in there. Your inventivness and design are noteworthy. Some missionary group will surely grab you up soon to repair trucks out in the jungle somewhere. There's always new work out there for a guy with skills such as yours. Using an old wrench was such a good use of material on hand. The boat gas can is a good plan too. They are portable and can be used elsewhere when not used on the new buggy, plus you can fill it up at the gas station without having to take the buggy down there. The lawn tractor seems like it can be useful for so many things around your place--hauling this or that. Take care and keep up the good work!!

I found a used bearing/end cap for the engine. $12 free shipping on Ebay. I'm not sure how I'd go about installing a roller bearing though. It's a relatively simple matter to bore the end cap to fit it but the end cap also takes care of crankshaft end play. I still have the old cap though. That's a good idea. The way things seem to be headed, I'm doing my best to use garbage before I use my good stock. Might soon come time where all we have is scrap. Getting old has it's drawbacks for sure like that grunt when I go to stand up. Just when I'm figuring out how things work, my body is starting to break down... I'm getting pretty good at figuring stuff out though. I see your injector line video in my feed right now, going to check it out!
