Both Keith and Ron are very tasty R&B guitarists and this is a fine example of Keiths playing in this style. The Perkins solo is smokin! Awesome playing and keep the clips coming! Rock on.

Perkins is very classic and his solos are quite often in the same inspiration. Taylor was much more creative, eclectique in his guitar technics and above all so melodic.

Absolutely great job! Nobody loves Mick Taylor more than me, but Wayne Perkins' two solos with the Stones were (imo) just jaw droppingly brilliant...perfect. Nobody they recorded with could provide his excellent counterpoint and structured fullness to complimented chords- Kinda like Dickey Betts meets James Honeymon Scott with a dash of Robbie Robertson. Wayne Perkins small contributions happen to be the pinnacle of the Stones work.

Hi happy hot star . Have you ever figured out the guitar licks (not the chordal rhythm )in Crazy mama that are being played in the outro of the song.They sound really cool and don’t know who played, them - Ronny, maybe , although sounds like Wayne P as they are quick and tricky, and maybe beyond Ronnies ability.Seen a vid of them live with Ronny playing gtr and he couldn’t seem to get close to recreating the licks, making me think either he can’t be bothered or maybe someone else did the playing on the orig sessions for the song.Any thoughts on this?

Anyone have any info/tips on how that solo’s tone was gotten? It’s similar to other bits on Tattoo You. It’s not quite a flange, it’s a bit of a ‘scream’

I SERIOUSLY DOUBT......Ronnie CAN NOT play that beautiful, famous solo (well "famous" for Stones nuts), as well as I just watched you do. You nailed it! You have a nice tone as well. I liked Woodie with the Faces but never as a Stone. In my HUMBLE OPINION....the two best solos since Mick Taylor left were both played by Mr. Perkins. This & Hand Of Fate. You are a very fine player...Thanks for this nice contribution!
@keithmoon297 жыл бұрын
I screwed up my entire point!!! SORRY! It should have read something along the lines of..... "I seriously doubt that Ronnie can play that solo as well as you".......etc, etc! The word "NOT" didn't belong in there & flipped everything. It made it seem like I was saying Ronnie could have done it & that was..... far...FAR.... from my intention! Sorry again!

Although this is a ballad, Perkins' solo is rather similar to the one in Hand of Fate, also the way it builds up.

It is. Probably because its the same Perkins' that played that solo :P Worried about you was left out of the black and blue sessions, and used on tattoo you. there is a live clip of them doing it in like 76 or so.
