How to choose your set list ? 1. Songs of invitation - "Come now is the time to worship" 2. Songs of Declaration (Who God is) - "How Great is our God" 3. Songs of response (People to respond to) - "I surrender all" 4. Songs for encounter (Holy Moment) - "Light of Your Face"

Just recently the worship leader has been training me and my sister to step up and lead the team and he has asked us to start creating the set lists. This really gave me a better understanding on how to create a set that isn't just easy to play but that really leads people into that time of worship.

You can listen and observe a worship leader and tell within 1 to 2 minutes who they are doing it for "themselves" or God! So many out there on stages and platforms that are nothing but performance and to impress others! I appreciate Jeremy's humble and honest attitude as an artist and worshiper!

I think the process here is correct. I just think that the only problem is that the goal of it all is to encounter the presence of God. Every instance of worship through music in the Bible has the goal of simply offer God our gratitude through music or use music to encourage for battle. Not every time God's presence came in a supernatural way because it wasn't the ultimate goal. The experience isn't the end goal.

Hi my brother, We have a wonderful Spanish congregation that shares our building with us. They are partial to the older music of the Church. Sometimes I've been asked to prepare their music for the afternoon service. Since I've found out that in their song books, the titles to the music are often different from what they are in English,I've had to take one of their songbooks home and go through it together with one of our older hymnals to create a cross reference to our music, then check the subject index in our hymnal before preparing a setlist. Then, before doing anything, asking the Pastor what his message is going to cover for the particular service that he needs help with. Next, spend time with the Lord asking Him which music you should choose,. Then, take at least an hour to rest quietly waiting for the Lord to lead you to the right music for that service.
