About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.
I've started to dedicate this KZbin channel above all to have fun, but also as a way to document my entrepreneurial journey for the next few years as I try to grow my companies. Hopefully, people can learn from my example, successes, and failures.
Either way, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far, and I hope it's just as fun to follow along!

Just bought a JTS AK-12; I oiled the slide, cycled it manually about 50 times. Then I set the gas block on “3” and fired 60 BAT slugs without a single misfire, jam or FTF. Can’t speak for the experience of others, but I really like mine so far. It may have problems with low brass or light loads; I intend to shoot a couple more boxes of hot loads before I step down and test out some birdshot.

I really didn't get it for anything serious, more of just a fun gun and I was quite surprised by it. Some things could of been better but for what I paid, I think 550, it was really decent and it didn't even need a break in even though it was new. I've had my JTS for almost 2 years and put about 500+ rounds of mostly 00 buck and slug. I have to say that I did some modification to the gun as I tried to improve the gas system with some polishing and deburring of the puck etc. Also, I've replace the forend with a heavily modified Magpul Zhukov and the Ace adapter plate that was once available for the gun. Used a Tom Cole conversion choke tube to thread on a Saiga compatible brake and it shoots great. I am keeping an eye on the bolt for wear, but so far so good. Also I highly recommend CSSPECs mags that they make for this. Steel, feeds well and most importantly, securely locks into the gun.

Reading through some of the other comments and now this one, I think Bran just got a dud Saiga. So much vocal support for this gun despite it's budget build, which says to me either Bran has a broken gun there; or he's loaded it incorrectly (which seems very unlikely). But it's great to see that most people are happy with it, at the end of the day - if you need a gun you want it to work when it's tasked. It might be missing a birdshot, it might be saving a life. Whatever the scenario you don't want awkward chamber rubix cubes to contend with! So happy to see 90% of people not seeing these issues. Someone should take their working one up to him, and revisit it on another video !

I've had my jts for a good bit and I absolutely love it! You just kind of have to find the right gas setting and you definitely have to break these suckers in, but once you do break them in they run flawlessly! I haven't had FTF or FTE in ages with mine! Could be that quality control is just not that great so some of the guns aren't as good as others oh, I may have just gotten lucky and got a good gun but I have never had any issues with mine even during the break-in. One thing I have noticed as that if you change to different types of shells you need to know the gas system pretty well so you can adjust it for what you're shooting at the time, but I really like that feature so you can throw any kind of ammo in it and it will run everything. It seems that there were best AK design really works well with this firearm for reliability. Now I have heard that the shotguns don't like low brass shells but then again I have fired several different brands of low brass out of mine and not had a failure to feed or failure to extract even with low brass. I think I paid around $430 with tax included for my jts and it was worth every penny in my book! Maybe try to just put some more ammo through it and it may start to work better. Also sometimes just polishing up the inside can do a world of difference on these cheaper guns

It’s a luxury when compared to the Saiga 12’s that got imported into the states. The saiga’s all had hunting stocks and no pistol grips. People had to do conversions on them to move the trigger and accept normal AK furniture. Meanwhile the Vepr 12 already is set up without and conversion work out of the box plus it’s built on a beefier RPK receiver. So compared to the state of imported saiga 12s I’d say the Vepr is the luxury model ak shotgun.

Gonna go full boomer here and say that magazine-fed shotguns are just a bad idea in general. Tube magazine shotguns have worked as a reliable and agile platform for over a century now, and running almost anything rimmed that isn't .22LR out of a mag is just asking for double-feeds and rimlock. Game won't need 10 shells, and armed intruders might need more. Just run a +1 extended tube and side saddle and git gud with tac reloading, or get an actual rifle in an intermediate caliber with a standard capacity detachable magazine. Mating the two is just the worst of both worlds in my opinion.

You'd probably hate my dad's Saiga. It's an actual Saiga with one of those dumb AR style lowers that requires "modified" polymer Saiga mags and runs like shit because "modified" is code for molested by a monkey with a Dremel. It runs unbelievably unreliably as a result. It makes me sad.

You most hold your dad accountable and take over as the man in the family. No man can call himself a man if he destroys a saiga

The only Dremel accessory to ever touch my Saigas was the cutter bit used to open the ejector pathway on one of the bolts. Otherwise everything was lovingly caressed by Arkansas stones in oil. And that's why they handle 2 3/4 dram without a hitch!

@@2fathomsdeeper I've never owned a siaga 12, but I do own a saiga .223 that I converted myself. It's hard to think that I unmolested an AK with a dremel lol

I have this same shotgun and its runs completely fine with any load 2-1/2” Low Brass Bird Shot too 2-1/2” - 3” Buckshot & Slugs. It has a completely adjustable gas system and as long as you adjust it to the ammo your using and keep it well oiled it will run every time!!! Worth every dollar. They are on sale rn at Palmetto State Armory for $279.00 you cant beat that deal at all.

It might be because you’re using low brass instead of high brass. High brass works better with magazine fed shotguns. But I could be wrong.

I just recently bought the Jts t1 and I love it…now. In the first 15-20 rounds it jammed every round till I blew the gas port open with high power slugs and buckshot. It’s running great now but I decided to park it till I take the time to actually clean the whole gas system which to be fair is recommended to be done before you even shoot it and for $250 on Palmetto it’s well worth the money imo
