If you ever get a chance to observe a keeper with calm hives and can fight through to get close, they're actually quite fascinating. I'm NOT downplaying your phobia, I have an anxiety disorder and a couple of debilitating phobias to... please don't think that, I get it! Just encouraging you, should you ever come to a point you'd like to try in an effort to overcome or calm some some of it, to suit up and give it a shot with watching....most beeks(even new ones like me), would be thrilled to help someone that had a phobia or fear find their way around one of our calm hives :-). Don't believe me, talk to your local beekeeping club! Now....spiders, they stay over THERE!

Well the reason why we have the Africanized hybrid all over the United States is because the bee breeders are all down south and they're not artificially inseminating their bees which means they're open-air breeding which means any drones that are available will mate with the Queen's tend to be faster than ours and that's how the hybridization starts each generation of bees after that he comes progressively more hybridized

Our California bees are angels. They did make a home in my house and i just had their hive removed. The leftover bees are just buzzing around but still non-aggressive. Reed, got my honey today 3 days earlier than projected. Amazed how 48 oz seems kinda heavy. You are correct. The bees my grandpa had were friendly. You could sit beside the hive and they could care less. Once in awhile one would land on your finger, look at you and then take off. These M F'rs you guys extract are a unholy terror. We had 2 hives when I was a kid, one of them was pretty chill and the other one was just like the bees in your video. The minute you got within 15 feet of the hive it was go time and they weren't quitting until the party was over.

Mid 1970s, in Oklahoma. I was 12. The one hive nearly killed our dog the day we set it up and took the mesh off the hive entrance, they came swarming out and instead of running she started rolling in the grass and got stung god knows how many times. She was on veterinarian drugs for a week and she puked up several dead bees over the next few days.

Holy chit!!! And honey bees? I was 14, walking the bank of a local creek,(about 6ft. above the water) with a friend in front, when I was engulfed by a huge swarm of yellow jackets, and I mean huge! My friend boogied, I ran. Dove in the water,wasn’t deep enough, ran up the bank, through an open back door of a garage and out the garage door(it was open) into the street, yelling and screaming. The bees chased me, went over the roof to continue attacking me, and chased me down the street over 100 yds… I was swatting and squashing them, they were everywhere on my body. Went 2 more blocks, got home, in bathroom, clothes off, bees everywhere (alive and dead) my earlobes each had about a dozen stingers in them. My mom pulling stingers out all over me. Started swelling, no space between fingers, taken to hospital, given shots, released 6 hrs. later… Later, I poured a gallon of gas into hive, set it off, blew a hole in bank of creek big enough for 2 of us to sit inside, paper mache flying in a cloud after kapoof. Don’t like yellow jackets very much to this day. 77 yrs. Old now. Gotta respect what you do. Yikes!!! 😮 😊

My regular bees stung me 50+ times after they lost their queen and became aggressive, but this is a whole different level. I was not wearing a suit because prior to them losing their queen, I didn't have to. Now I wear a full suit every time in case they lose their queen again and go nuts.

I got stung once today working on my hive lol The girls in the hive I worked today are the sweetest bees around. . . I was told African bee produce more honey, but I don't really know that for a fact. . . bee safe . . . ❤

I would 100% consider getting some Camel Packs with plenty of ice and water in them if I were you guys (they can be easily worn underneath your suits), that way you can stay hydrated while you work out in that nasty heat. Especially NOW of all times and where you are at!! (I too live out here in AZ). Also, I wonder if it would be a good idea to keep a closed off AC'd area for you guys to run into once you start to get too hot? Of course that would only really work during times where you get to work indoors (but it's in an area without any AC at all). The only other thing you'd need for this idea is an electric generator to power the thing, and to get one of those portable AC Units that stand up and you gotta run a hose to vent the bad air outside? Hell, I bet you can even get some decent relief just running the AC unit outside and having the vent blow directly into your face in some shade... Just an idea. Both of you regardless of the horrid bees or heat, handled the situation very well, you guys are tough as steel working like that in this nasty weather (and it's only going to get worse till what - the middle of October ?). Cheers, keep up the good work, and do your best to stay cool!!! (both literally and figuratively) :) Yep those bees were mean this time around too. Maybe try using a couple of shop vacs with water in the bottoms on them early on and focus it on the exits so it isn't as bad?

That was one hell of a massive amount of bees! You would need a 10 gal drum of adhesive spray for that many bees. That was a huge hive I sure hope you get a lot of honey out of it. Was anyone attacked around that area before you removed it?

@@KillerBeeGuyyou’d think, to save the non Africanized bees here in the US, they’d finish the work that was started years ago by hybridizing them and manipulating their dna to have their immunity to disease and pests but avoid the aggretion of the African bees!!! but I can already hear it now, so many people would be bitching against it. But hey, if it could be done responsibly and kept confined for enough time to run many generations and check for problems that may arise without prematurely letting any bees loose, it might be a solution!

I think there would have been a much easier method, pressure sprayer with soapy water mist for the outliers followed up with the saws all and a high velocity fan with a catch net on the output. I can imagine many other methods to minimize structural damage.

Ok, get this. I’m watching this video with my floor to ceiling sliding glass door & screen WIDE OPEN. Never EVER in living here 40+ years ever saw a BEE come into my condo/room. With this video playing, a BEE came into my room. I live pretty far north and they are RARE to see (near Chicago) plus it’s cooler today 60 degrees. This is very very rare. I think this BEE HEARD the VIDEO and came in my room. Once I paused the video for about 10 seconds, it flew out! WOW. They can hear the video of other bees and be attracted! And I live on the 3rd floor high up! No flowers are this high!

See I have a phobia of wasps. Bees don't scare me but I'm sure these ones would. But when I say wasps and hornets are my all time biggest fear in the planet, that is an understatement by a long shot!!! But check out honey bees like on a documentary or something. They are super interesting and very vital. It may help combat the fear a little more when it comes to bees.
