"Worst Client Ever" Filing Routine | How to file extreme nails!

Ive seen nail techs hurry through a client appointment and leave obvious issues without any concern - in their videos! Because they are rushing for the next appointment. It is my impression that Kirsty is very particular and wants every client to leave with as perfect a set as possible. Thats awesome! I would enjoy watching Faye do some basic tasks with the extreme length nails - like scratching her eye, taking her keys out of her purse, etc. I cant imagine living with such long nails but people do. Could I? It would be fun to try. 😂 This is a very pretty set.

For scratching your eye you can just use your knuckle, not sure about the purse one

I get pretty long nails and I use the nail to CAREFULLY pluck the card/money up and then grab with my knuckle

They have this thingy that you can hang on the inside of your bag that will hold your keys up so you don’t have to dig for them! You know where the keys are and it’s easy to just pluck them out at the rim of your bag! You KNOW Faye has one in each color to match her nails!!! LMAO!

You'd be surprised just how much you adapt to everything while having long nails. Key's: I make sure I keep a nice sized keychain that I can easily identify and grab. Atm: I ultimately have had to start using tweezers to pull my card out of the atm Scratching the eye....i use my knuckle or flex my fingers out and use the underside of my pinky. It gets easier and easier as you wear them and you figure out ways to mske anything work. So much so...when I do remove them I feel naked and clumsy lol

I wear my nails quite long, fake of course lol. You'd be surprised at how fast you adapt to them. I can pick up change off the floor, scratch my eye, use the ATM, use my phone, etc....

I love the questions Fay and Adam ask, they're always so informative. I'm constantly amazed by how simple Kirsty makes e-filing look. I did a training session with a brand educator a while ago and she was just as particular as Kirsty is about things being straight. I actually think that really helps people who are learning and it is good for the client. I've had uneven bumpy nails before and it's so frustrating.

The sound of the hand filing is like nails on a chalkboard for me. When I file my own nails I always clench my teeth because I had the sound. Lol ; )

I find that with the hand file, i get so much more of an accurate and perfected shape, i guess because of how much youre able to feel. Using the e-file removes that connection between your fingers and your client's nail. I just use my e-file for cuticle work and removing bulk, then refine the shape with my hand file!!

How long would this take to do in a salon? I'm so particular but also worried my clients are getting bored Coz I take ages. It gives me anxiety!

Faye is a unique sort of client. She'd rather sit there all day and have absolutely perfect nails than be done in an hour and have weeks of the flaws driving her crazy before the next fill. I don't blame her. I'd say that Faye's sets are all in the over three hours range, and I know some of them have taken all day. You just need to have an understanding of the old joke/question: Fast, easy or cheap, pick two, you just have to twist it a bit: Fast, easy or perfect-- pick two. Fast and easy is press-on nails, fast and perfect is "A Pres" style nails, easy and perfect would be dual forms with Acrygel. But absolute perfection, like Faye's nails, isn't fast, easy or cheap!

In the last video she said the application alone took 2 hours, so with filing and after the bling I'm guessing at least 3 hours and that's pretty quick. That's how long it takes to do properly I don't know what you mean by "in a salon"...? I'm a nail tech but I'm independent and I've never worked for anyone else or in a "Salon" so for me personally I always put out high quality work and it takes time, I charge for it, and I don't appoligize. Do you ever watch Tracey on those Young Nails videos? She's always talking about "salon" nails and I'm sorry but she is sloppy as H-E double sticks. She's fast, but I'm surprised she can charge so much for that kind of hurried work. Hey good for Tracey but I can't work like that, and I don't. It's just not my personal business model. I would say if your in a Salon and on commission or can't control your own prices, you can't afford to be so particular. Unfortunately you might be in the kind of environment where speed is survival so you might need to be more of a Tracey than a Kirsty.

I work for myself too and it takes me 45 mins just to do a gel polish on natural nails just because of the amount of prep! I've had clients say oh my other lady never used to do all this and just filed off polish with an efile! 😳🤦🏽‍♀️

Hi kirsty could you do a video about cuticle application with coloured acrylic. When ever I do colored acrylic I can never get a crisp cuticle area after filing. It is driving me insane, maybe mentioning the filing technique to get the product flush but still looking crisp in a future video that you do with coloured acrylic would be amazing! That's cheap! I'm a nail tech and with that length, all the custom product mixing, correct structure and after bling I would charge probably double that. That is NOT $100 set at least not if you want that kind of skill level.

Fay is pretty particular on her nails. She does her nails the way she wants them. If Fay isn't happy she will literally grab the file and do it herself.
