Meeting traffic can be really hard, there'll be times where a road is really parked up, lots of traffic in both directions. I had one such occasion during an event when almost all streets were parked up, loads of people trying to find spaces. I had stopped on the left behind a parked car to give way (allow the opposite traffic to flow), but after 4 cars had pushed through, I had to be ruthless and force the traffic to reverse. There were over 6 cars stuck behind me, and I knew the junction to the road behind me would be backing up. I did get a few swear words from the driver, but some people focus too much on their own progress and not on the progress of all road users. It's also really hard to know how big gaps ahead are, or if there are any. I used to worry on my test that the examiner would see a gap I would not, and fail me for not making progress and hindering traffic. I'm still worked up about when I failed for driving 37 in a 40 during wet weather due to hindering traffic. I think in this case, it's a classic example of how nerves can cock up your test. I could tell he was a perfectly capable driver.

About 35 years ago, on a Friday afternoon like this, in the rain I passed my test. Rain when it's dark no street lights and headlights coming at you on single carriageways, or settled snow on the roads, driving on black ice are some of the worst driving conditions I've ever been in. Good to get practice in all road conditions :-)

Hi Aman, you are so great of explaining, I wish I could meet you in real life and have a go you as my teacher. I like that you are so strict with mirror checks as my instructor doesn’t point that out,for instance if I overtake someone he says I don’t have to signal to go around ect .so obviously everyone has they ways to teach . but yeah big thanks to you definitely 😊

Tbf it’s not as bad as the number of serious faults may imply - the driving itself is ok other than the stalling due to being in second. The majority of the major faults are simply situational judgment which will fix itself with experience

1:48 that's true but if you always keep it between the min and max how would you know if it's leaking? A trick that my instructor told me is to always fill it to the max. Next time when I check I will know that I've filled it to the max and I will be able to tell if and how much leaked.

Is there any tips for driving in the rain? I think last Sunday evening I was practicing and as soon as we started it started raining soooo heavily. Could not see the road marking and the side mirrors covered in water couldn't see how far the cars at all. Hope my test will have better weather.....(Mid Dec though....probably won't be great weather....)

Extremely light rain so not an extreme weather condition and something very common for the UK, definitely not the "worse" conditions. I don't think that lad should be sitting his test when he can't even stay within the white lines.

okay that serious fault around 21:15 was harsh and unnecessary, 10 times out of 10 the pedestrian is not in harms way, potential for even a minor injury is next to zero, this is what i mean about the british driving standards being unnaturally clinical, you literally have to go word for word by the manual, they make it a privilege to drive in the uk due to the practically zero margin for errors employed by instructors, i've done mock tests in spain, germany, switzerland and sweden and not one of these countries is even as remotely clinical as the UK
