I replaced my original headlights on my 99 Mustang not too long ago, I learned to look closely at the reviews of items like this - and go straight to the negative ones. Note what percent of reviews are negative, and what they are. With headlights, I saw a lot of reports of not fitting correctly, water leakage, yellowing quickly, I made sure to buy one of the better reviewed pairs. Also, you can buy complete car fobs on ebay or amazon, with instructions for how to program them for your car. Again, read reviews of the seller, and of the product itself. It may be the fob itself is getting weak, or the battery you bought was old, or counterfeit, etc -

I tried to do my homework before buying my 2005 5.4 3V in Jan of 22. It only had 66k miles at the time. I gave it a thorough going-over before driving it home (which was 600 miles away from the dealership!), and it didn't display any red flags. My mechanic at home gave it a clean bill of health and I had him preemptively change the spark plugs so that would not be a problem. So far, so good. I make sure the oil is changed regularly and it has treated me well over the past 3 years.

Nicely presented video! Good to see some smaller channels coming up in the feed. I have an 06 with the 5.4 - couple of oil changes a year with the correct spec oil seems to keep it sweet. Had mine 7 years - not pretty but works well. Subscribed. All the best! 🍻

@drg424 buy after 2008 and you'll be completely fine. If it's before just do regular oil changes

I like the headlights of the 2nd Gen Expedition since you get your own high beam bulb unlike the F150, they are brighter.

Oh yeah they still make that key, my dad had a 2021 explorer fire car, was basically a police interceptor just with red lights, it had that same old school key fob

The sparkplug issues on the 3v 4.6, 5.4, and the 6.8 were fixed after 2008. The sparkplugs would seize so they were hard to remove. The 2v's had insufficient bore in the sparkplug threads. These were literally the only factory defects on the modular family, the 4.6 and 5.4 had torque increases after 2008 as well. So after that they were flawless engines. Anyone calling these engines unreliable has not done their research. The GM competitors in the 5.3 and 6.2 had and still have issues with pushrods bending, the Hemis have design flaws in lubrication as well as weak lifters.

5.4 3v have issues way beyond the spark plugs, they all grenade themselves before 200k due to the cam phasers failing. Car Wizard says he has replaced 12 of them personally in his shop. You can make them last but you better change your oil every 3-5k

@colfchan camphaser issues were also fixed after 2008 according to Wikipedia. The timing chain guide issues that are also brought up are also expected with a chain system as you need plastic guides to reduce friction. I'd still much rather have a chain and get new guides every 200k rather then a timing belt every 60k

@colfchan also they don't grenade themselves. The camphasers run off oil pressure so when you don't have enough on start up, there's a keeper pin that will have them in the default position until the pressure builds up. Eventually those keeper pins will wear out but it will cause a rattle for a few seconds until oil pressure builds up again, won't be blowing up the engine. After 2008 ford supposedly reinforced the pins. My 2010 expedition is at 300k and has had 0 issues with the camphaser pins rattling and no issues with sparkplugs either.
