Guys this is a very common situation when the duration between connecting flights is only 1-2 hours. I too had a similar experience at Kuala Lumpur airport itself, not with AirAsia though; & I was hoping they make me stay there for a day or two, but instead sent me to Chennai 😆🤣 stayed in Chennai for a few hours then was put on a flight to Delhi. The only lesson here is to take into account these delays and other miscellaneous situations, & keep reasonable time between connecting flights.
