OMG my worst nightmare, also that owner is shady! Why wouldn't she tell you that the collar is a trigger for the dog??? That can be such a traumatic experience as a sitter. I'm annoyed on your behalf 😒 🙄 but also Fritz the 19 yr old incontinent dog was a hilarious story 🤣 😂

I bet the dog was a pit bull mix. He might have had a fear about his neck because that’s where pits often bite each other during a fight. You grab his neck, he assumes the fight has begun. I’m glad he didn’t attack you. Please don’t pet sit pits and pit mixes. You can’t begin to imagine the horror of a pit bull mauling.

My not so good experience : a woman who looked like me, sent me alerts asking what amenities i was using because her Bill is going high (although I was only there for 6 days). Asked me for pictures of her pet almost every 5 minutes " What is she doing now?", and on top of that her "Sweet Cat in the world " was extremely standoffish , I get it cats can be like that. I accidently knocked over a plant, and the woman said I used Bleach on her carpet , even though I used her Carpet cleaner, to clean up after , which I communicated right away. The sheets on the bed I was to sleep on were dusty and had blood stain on them, I had to use two of my sweatshirts for my when it was time to rest my head. Gnats or what we call in the caribbean "Sour Flies" were in the area where I slept and would come out in numbers at night during my rest, where I had to repeatedly wake up and ended having to make a natural remedy to keep them at bay, I also reached out to her to let her know and never got a response until my sit was over. Lots of information on the Welcome Guide, did not match what I was expected to do, and there was "miscommunication" because of that. Also, I was asked for my ID and a second proof of address right up front, which Is counter intuitive in my opinion being though TrustedHouseSitters platform does an extensive free background check. I saw the warning signs but thought , this person was so "holistic", I am sure to have a peaceful and serene time. I was wrong and I've learned my lesson: If it doesn't feel right at the beginning of a sit, you have a right to cancel, even if it is the day of.

Thank you for sharing. The collar story hurt my heart. In the future choke collars and all appartices that harm animals shall be against the law globally. Healing replaces harm and all animals will be seen with eyes that can see.

What about safety? How do you know you're going to a safe area, city, or neighborhood? How do you make sure no one is just gonna walk in on you? And, besides KZbin, how do you make money while traveling?

this is great! do you have a video for people who have a house and are looking for a great house sitter?
@erikacalvert94812 жыл бұрын
Thank you for all this great content! I’m in the middle of a career transition having recently left a stressful corporate job and have the benefit of several months to ponder my next move. I had been informally house sitting for friends for years, but recently learned about TrustedHousesitters and signed up. I already have two gigs booked, including nine days in the heart of San Francisco! Have been dying to go back to SF, but as you noted, it’s terribly expensive so this is a wonderful opportunity which more than makes up for the TH fee!I’ve watched several of your videos and was very curious to hear about your worst experiences. While they definitely sound unpleasant, not as bad as I thought and I agree that the positives far outweigh the negatives! Again, thank you so much for posting all of this great information! I am subscribed! I have a channel too (all travel stuff) so if you want to share the love, check it out! Take care and safe travels! ❤

Have you booked a home that was dark n erie? Or found out while you were there that this place is off n i don't feel comfortable here?
@StephaniePerry3 жыл бұрын
No Salina. I would never! You get to see pics of the home on Trusted Housesitters and you also can check things out when you do a video call with the client. And I don't take referral house sits from someone who can't tell me what the house looks like. They have to have been in the home before to refer someone to me.

@StephaniePerry4 жыл бұрын
Most do. There are house sits with no pets, but they’re usually like 2-3 months long. They’re definitely out there though.
@flomccarther56323 жыл бұрын
Do they require you to allow the pets to sleep with you; I turned down a house sit for that reason before. Nothing was wrong with the dog the owners said that the dog was accustomed to sleeping on that bed with them at night.

If that’s the worse then it doesn’t seem so bad. I was expecting much worse. Q: Do you require your clients to let neighbors know you’re coming? I wouldn’t want to be mistaken for a burglar.
