11:20 50something year old woman here with chronically dry lips and mostly dry skin. Think of that Good Light lip serum the same way you’d think of a hydrating serum for the rest of your face. If you apply a serum to your dry facial skin and don’t put moisturizer over it, your face will probably feel dry in a few minutes. Considering how inexpensive Aquaphor is (or cheaper yet, Vaseline), I have no problem needing to apply it over a lip serum-just as I have no problem needing to apply a separate moisturizer over my facial serum(s). Eh, you didn’t really have a need for this product and there’s nothing wrong about that. We don’t all need the same things, after all. But for anyone who was thinking of trying this lip serum: remember to keep the word “serum” in mind. (I currently use and love this product, but I’m one of the folks who actually need it.)

I agree with you. I would've liked to have them have a set/kit with 2 parts. There are some people who don't know what an occlusive is. Some people don't know what a serum is, or how to use it. I'm not saying it's a bad product, I'm just saying that it's not something that's useful in my routine. I wish the packaging allowed for easier access to all the product, and that they included a duo of products.

Even before you said it that CDP lipstick I thought: that looks just like Maybelline! Great video! This is why I buy makeup almost exclusively at Sephora - I want to be sure I can easily return it if I don’t like it. Your guidance is so helpful as I think I have a similar aesthetic and age/skin conditions to you.

This is why I do this. I know I'm not the only one looking for these qualities in products. I'm lucky enough to have a beauty budget, and I love being able to play with and review products on youtube. Thanks for making the time to watch.

Laura Geller palettes, blushes ...big no for me! I tried so many! Looked really dryingon my skin! So disappointed!!

How sad. I haven't had a LG blush, highlight or bronzer in more than 5 years, but I remember them looking so pretty on my skin. (my skin has changed a lot in the past half decade, so it might look very different now) I nearly picked up another blush from the brand recently. I'll remember your experience next time I'm curious to re-try the brand.

Fun and necessary! And i am not a negative person, but as our pal Hannah Louise has taught us, if you're sitting there thinking "I can make this work" then you are probably wasting your money. That was me for many years (mostly clothes) until I think I have finally grown out of it.... good for you for not being afraid to share that some things just don't work and moving on.
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
Yes, I love hearing creators like Hannah talking about how having to work too hard to get something to "work" means it's not for you. At nearly 50, I'm not willing to shoehorn myself into trends or trendy products. I don't mind trying new stuff that I think would work for me, but the minute it doesn't, it's a hard NO. Thanks for watching today.

None of LE products worked for me. I'm in my 50's. The foundation was the worse. The new skin tint isn't much better. Skin tint that does work for me is pixi H2o in nude, amazing
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
I haven't ever tried the Pixi skin tint. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm sorry that LE products don't work for you. What an expensive disappointment. I like nearly everything from the line. I'm not a huge fan of the pencil eyeliners or the lip gloss, but other than that, I tend to really like the products she creates. They work well for my and my skin time/texture.

I had a very poor experience with the LE foundation. On the other hand, I adore the Skin Tint. I am 73 with combo to dry skin. I recommended it to my 47 year old sister who lives in Texas and she was blown away at how good it worked for her. So true how product success often varies.

@@gsplady50 I'm glad you're liking the skin tint. It's been in heavy rotation at my house. So easy to wear, and just enough and not too much.

I love the nd beautifier! I’m 55 and if I use it under the powder foundation it just gives me a glow from within. I can use the primer alone but I would not use the highlighter alone, but great under foundation or as highlighter.

@@tiffshorse13 I'm so glad it works for you. I was wanting to use it on light makeup days as a subtle radiance, but it's so glowy. Too glowy for me. Thanks for watching and I'm glad it works at well for you.

😂 I bought the new Makeup by Mario serum bronzer $36 in the shade light. I very fair skin and this shade looks gray on my skin. It doesn’t look bronzed and beautiful 😂. It looks gray and sad 😔 😂. I have tried mixing it with foundation and it looks pretty that way without changing my foundation shade too but yeah $36 not worth it and I was so excited! I don’t even think the formula is that great to buy a different shade…

Interesting. I was about to place an order for it, but I've heard from several creators that it's similar to Soft Sculpt Skin Enhancer that I love. I don't need two versions of the same product. The product I have doesn't really dry down, and I hear that the new liquid bronzers do. I don't mind that the skin enhancer stays dewy on my cheeks. It's a great way to make sure I don't end up looking dry. The older I get, the more likely that is to happen to me.

Valentino lipstick packaging is also totally drugstore and $15 less than CDP, but I’m still cranky about it . Thankfully the product itself is good.
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I like the product in the Valentino. I feel like the packaging is a bit heavier and I like that it's refillable. Is it the most luxe? No, but I don't hate it. 🤷♀️

Worst for the year: Valentino Lipsticks and Blushes. Waaay too fragranced for me. Makeup by Mario eyeshadow palette was dry and hard to blend. Just a few.
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
Was it just the fragrance in the Valentino products that was the miss for you? I don't mind the scent of the lipsticks, and really love the way they feel and wear. I haven't tried anything else from the makeup line other than lipsticks. I've heard mixed reviews on the MbM eyeshadow palettes, so I've just decided to steer clear. Thanks for reenforcing that in my mind.

Thank you so much for this feedback, especially about La Bouche Rouge.
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
I really wanted to love La Bouch Rouge, but I have to babysit the color on my lips so that it doesn't get patchy. I was disappointed that this happened especially at the price point. Maybe it's the two shades I got? Maybe they were hanging around on the warehouse shelf for too long? Perhaps it's not the formula, but the age of the product. Either way, I'm not getting another one. At that price, I need it to be spectacular!

I hate to say this, but my my disappointingly product has been the YSL Candy Glazes. I have several and will use them all up due to the price, but I a disappointed. I hate so much fun trying new stuff out, but with some of the price tags of these make-up items, one can get miffed when they don’t work out 😂 I actually think the Roman’s Melting balms are stellar - and am getting e more in the mail today actually. After I tested the first shade, Hippie Berry, I am hooked. They are way better and just as glossy and thick and plush as candy glaze but stay put and make my lips look sooooo darn juicy
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
You nearly had me purchasing a bold cold in the Candy Glaze. I was worried it would feather into all my lip lines, so I held off. Now that you've changed your mind, I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger. I still like my Candy Glazes, but I have 2 nude shades and the clear. They're great for an easy, everyday look and if they travel a little bit, it doesn't show nearly as much as a bright red or pink would've. I do LOVE the Glasting Melting Balms from Ro&and. They're such a great product. I'm glad you like them too.

I got the Rare Beauty blush in Happy. It is a topper for me. I wouldn't buy more. The ND new face palette isn't my favorite. The blush is pretty. The eyeshadows just moves and creases on me. NYX Duck plump is an absolutely not for me. The Denessa Myricks water to powder drops gave me a reaction. So I passed it on. Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
Sorry the DM water/powder serum gave you a reaction. That sounds uncomfortable. I don't think that I'd suggest the Rare glowy blushes for mature skin. It looks incredible on un-textured skin, but that's not the category I fall in to. I heard mixed reviews about the ND face palette, and I would hate to have the eyeshadows crease on me. Have a wonderful holiday weekend, and thanks for watching.

So interesting I've seen Andrea Ali raving about these La Bouche Rouge lipsticks. I thought they were so pretty. But way to expensive for the case and refill together. And because I am not a red lip kind a girl ,I thought fine: "this is not for me. " But if the queen of red lips don't like the formula, I am so glad I spend my money to something else. I have a Velvet Jazz from Lisa Eldridge if I want to wear a red. And a liquid lipstick from sephora own brand that is preforming well for me. I am 44 and an metallic finnish gives me also some bad vibes. My mother was a hairdresser and she had a German exclusief makeup line at the salon and I remember the bright pink with metallic finnish even on my extremely young lips to looked hurandous. So sad you acidently picked that metallic finnish. I totally understand you. The component looks stunning, love the design and the 2 tones gold and silver. These reviews are so helpful. ❤ Thanks for making this video.

Bye the way ( my mother is still rocking the bright blue eyeliner, here make up style is still the one from circa 1985 until 1987 ... , but I am glad she never wears lipstick these days, only a clear balm)

You know, bright blue eyeliner was such a hit in the 80s. I remember Princess Diana wearing it all the time. It was certainly a trend.

I've heard so many other creators talking about how great the La Bouche Rouge lipsticks are, and perhaps the ones I got were old. Maybe they'd been sitting on the warehouse shelf too long. Maybe I'm expecting something that they're not able to perform. Perhaps it's the two shades that I got. I don't know, but I'd never pick up another one. $45 is a lot to spend on a refill especially if it's not transformative. I love the packaging, and I'm trying to figure out if I can replace the LBR bullet with something else, but . . .

How disappointing with those lipsticks, very pricey for poor quality. I was a little disappointed with the ND Hy Glam powder foundation, it is not super bad but it’s more of a powder with a little coverage, my Moira powder foundation looks so much better and it’s only $20 not $55, i actually compared both in a video. I will use in combination with a skin tint, but I will not repurchase. Have a great weekend 🥰
@thelipstickgal8 ай бұрын
I haven't committed to trying Moira base products yet because I'm worried about matching myself correctly. I feel like sometime the online photos are very different from the color products I have, and worry that I would get the wrong foundation or powder shade. I'll check it out again, because I'm always looking for an easy product. I like the ND powder, and it's been working well for me, but I'm always curious about what else is out there.
