Ah geez. I remember I fell during a double time backwards march. I had to get from 50 yardline to the 25 yardline in 16 beats. I had to do a visual as a steam powered robot for our steampunk show so I had to break off of the curve last minute to take my "skin mask off" and reveal my copper face makeup. Yeah Mr. Band Teacher, it'll be fine, Octavious can make it. I still have a scar on my neck where the saxophone nailed me in the windpipe.

OKAY, story time. So at my second competition (Ryle Finals) our marching band had a show named ReinCarmenated. It was based on the opera Carmen, and we had tombstones painted on the back of chairs. WELL. It was my rookie year, and I was absolutely terrible at marching. So we had to backwards march AROUND the chairs, but my band is full of idiots so they put them in the wrong place- and WHAM. I’m lying on the ground. Worst thing is, a girl named Jessica is backward marching towards me too. So our uniforms are designed to give us wedgies, right? I stand up as fast as I can, run to my spot. At the end, we had to put our instruments up to the box, so that’s what I did- I was crying so hard I couldn’t hold out the last note, lol. The only good thing about it was that I got a hug from my crush afterwards, so yeah.

One time I was marching a hard squiggle follow-the-leader set, the girl behind me was coming real close to hitting me and the guy in front of me suddenly stopped. i fell over face first out of the form, twisted both knee sideways, fell on the right on the school parking lot, and dislocated it completely. My band calls this the meat grinder and if one person goes down, we all go down. Once last year, we were rehearsing and the stadium lights just shut off during the meat grinder. We finished the show and no one fell. Pretty cool.

My band got 3rd in the highest division in championship and we always have a competition a day before and the audio crapped out in the beginning so everyone got confused the all of a sudden the drum majors cued us in because they’re the only ones counting so our opening set was a complete failure but we recovered and got a 90.9

I remember last year we went to a festival because our band was in the parade (mind you I was a Freshman, remember that detail) and during a cadence I somehow placed my foot in a weird position and fell and the Senior next to me used his arm to quickly push me back up before I fell and ended up causing dominos in the entire block When we got back to the buses he gave me extra water and a hug before my mom grabbed me I miss him 😔

That's bad but I unfortunately can top this. It's my senior season and it is VBODA(Virginia Competition that graded by judges who grades each band: Grades:1-Superior, 2-Excellent, 3:Good, 4:Fair, etc.). It was pouring that early afternoon, but the band is already on the field, doing our show. There was on set that I was in the front to creat a diagonal line. Mind you, the field is basically drenched with water and we are in a up tempo marching. I had a little count time to make it from mid field up to the front line. I was good at this and I made it and the good part was we had a break for a few seconds. The bad part is as I made it to my spot, I put my feet together and strangely lost balance. I fell right on my trombone and almost severely injured myself (good thing it didn't happened). I quickly got back up (thanks adrenaline) and kept on moving while pretending to play a damaged instrument. In the end, our band received a superior rating and rightly so.

The chances of this happening is 1/100 or more. I'm in a band with about 400 (estimated) and went to 10 football games + 4-5 competition performances and 2 playoffs [about 16 showtimes maybe] ; only one person fell in only one performance out of all we did, the rest of the band was solid gold. Hopefully this makes you feel better!
