As a southern American I can say that waffle houses are something special. My favorite thing to tell people about is the waffle house disaster index. So Waffle House is meant for Truckers and travelers, that’s why it’s 24/7. Waffle House also stays open during disasters so they can help the community by providing warm meals if need be. Waffle House has a disaster index that was approved by the head of the national disaster response called the “Waffle House Index”. Waffle House is essentially the perfect neutral. They don't try to be the best rather than consistent. Also it's a place for free entertainment as seen in these videos. A while back I read a post in an advice blog about a woman who's boyfriend would go to the same waffle house and order sunny side up eggs. Every time the eggs would come cooked wrong, and the boyfriend would get into a fist fight with the cook. It was also added that cops were never called, and it seemed like the cook was getting abstract with how wrong the eggs were being prepared.

My best guess as someone who lives in the south. Is low income areas are full of ignorant people who have big ego problems, the reason this happens so often at waffle house is not only the stigma but also its a cheap establishment that is not that expensive and opens in extremely low income areas with poor education. I have met about 3 people in my town who graduated college and one is a doctor, one is a lawyer and the other is a business major. Its just sad. Nothing was more of a turn off for me back in the day than hearing my ex girlfriend reminisce about how before we dated, she’d go to Waffle House after drug, alcohol, and sex fueled escapades at raves. Truly a staple of any functional human being.

I go to waffle house all the time, and the last one I went to a gang shooting went down. The employees told me all about it, pretty much the chef was in a gang and sadly died when he walked outside. Ever since then theres cameras and literally security who monitor the whole waffle house. The employees said that security guards have to escort people into the diner on thursdays

Southern American here, Waffle House is from Georgia and like most businesses from that state, it's run 100% to make money from doing the bare minimum. While some Waffle Houses were open during the pandemic, they didn't allow people to eat inside within certain times and they did away from the 24/7 operation hours.

While I never fought at Waffle House myself, it's fairly common that stores that are open 24/7 tend to invite all types of unsavory characters that are either drunk, on drugs, or both. You have to have the patience of a saint to work there....which isn't the case.
