In Big Ben’s defense, he was also the youngest QB to win a Super Bowl at 23 and without his shoestring tackle in the AFC championship, you could argue the Steelers wouldn’t have even made it to Super Bowl XL in the first place.

Ben's was a great QB, but never a media darling, he didn't help himself in that regard. That tackle not only kept us alive, but also kept Jerome Bettis from being a punchline, instead of a Hall of Famer. @@Cocpain If Mahomes wins this superbowl it'd be really hard to say Roethlisberger did more in his first 5 years than him. Assuming he did win it he would have 2 rings, 3 super bowl appearances, an MVP, 5 straight AFCCGs at home and a 50 passing TD season( I know the league is way more offensive/pass happy now but still). This is also without mentioning that the Steelers had a top 3 defense by DVOA 4 of those 5 seasons and the other season they were still 9th. Mahomes defenses have never been better than 14th in DVOA

Dilfer being a starting Super Bowl winning QB just emphasizes how dominant the 2000 Ravens defense was. Keep in mind: - Dilfer only passed for more than 200 yards three times the entire season, and threw for under 100 yards three times also, including the final two games of the regular season. - During one stretch, the Ravens went FIVE games without scoring a touchdown and actually won two of them. - Dilfer wasn't even the opening week starter. That would be the amazing Tony Banks, who lost his job in Week 8.
@keenannash2947

One thing that shouldn't be overlooked about the 2000 Ravens offense is the run game. Jamal Lewis was a very good RB and helped the team control the ball and give the defense enough time off the field to be fresh and dominate when they were on the field.

After winning the last 7 games of the season, including the SB...HC Billick threw QB Dilfer into the trash dumpster in the back of the building. Billick never had another SB team, as his new QBs made too many mistakes and lost game after game. Billick never got another HC job. If one has a winning combination...stick with it. Brandon I don't know what you're talking about. Joe Namath's victory didn't "force a merger" between the two leagues. The merger was already in place. It had been in place for 3 years prior to Super Bowl 3, and it was already finalized that the next year would be the last year before the two leagues actually completely merged into one league. All that win did was validate the AFL as an equal league in terms of talent, a big thing. But the merger was already in place.

Roger Staubach's performance in Super Bowl 6 wasn't even bad, let alone one of the worst. 12/19 is a 63% completion percentage which in the 70's was well above average, had two touchdowns no turnovers and Dallas won 24-3. The Cowboys had 48 rushing plays for 252 yards so if you're argument is Staubach's performance had little impact on the game, sure, but he still was methodical and didn't play bad at all. Broncos are the masters of bad QB SB performance. Elway had just a 51 rating in his first SB win. It was all Davis. Manning’s abysmal playoff run with the Broncos was capped off by a 59 rating in his SB win. Better than Elway but still the defense won that game. Elway’s other ring was a 99 rating… ok, not amazing. Elway and Manning both had better ratings in Broncos SB losses than they ultimately did in some of their wins. So yeah, it seems like good QB play is almost a hindrance to Broncos winning trophies.

Ben's second SB , he played at an MVP level. It went to Santonio Holmes. Likely because he never had any sexual assault charges.

As for Griese and the Dolphins...You have two 1000 yard runners behind two (should be three) HOF linemen. No need to be pass happy with those guys. You can keep it on the ground until the defense totally commits to the run and then you can play action and throw to a HOF WR who is one of the premier deep threats of that era. Simplified but that's pretty much what it comes down to.

When Denver beat New England in that super bowl run, I was so impressed by Manning's incredibly accurate ducks throughout that game. I still have no idea how he completed those passes with so little velocity. Seattle sure shit the bed in their first super bowl. They love to blame the refs, but they flat out sucked and beat themselves. When I rewatched the game a few years later, I was shocked at how bad that game really was. One of the worst of all time, other than Randle El's bomb. And finally, I haven't actually watched a super bowl since that awful New England/LA snoozefest. That was a game to forget.

Pertaining to Bob Griese, with that backfield, there wasn't a need to air it out. Czonk and Morris were the best of their day.

Namath played in a totally different era. He called the plays in the huddle. Only Peyton Manning is comparable in the modern era in this. (Which is why Manning > Brady). Defensive backs were virtually mugging receivers twenty yards downfield (see bump-and-run defense). Pick plays actually were disallowed. Take Namath off the list, Perna, and you now owe Broadway Joe a fondle.

And there you go. Everyone likes to use superbowls as a qb stat as apposed to a team stat, so with that logic bob greasii shits on rodgers 😐

Come on Perna!!!! Naimith's SB victory guarantee was iconic in NFL history. Big Ben had the refs in SB 40. Brady's SB's vs. NYG were horrid too, he got sacked numerous times.

Agree 100% Joe didn't even throw a single INT in his four super bowl wins. The first 49ers qb to do that was Colin Kapernick.

Bob Griese would have had a much better stat line in Super Bowl 7 if Marlin Brisco doesn’t commit a stupid false start penalty that wiped out a touchdown to Paul Warfield and would have probably taken out Garo’s Gaffe by Shula electing to punt instead of run up the score.

I’d argue Tom Win vs the panthers or falcons was better a bigger comeback and a clutch great game 350 yards and 470 yards crazy enough vs the eagles it’s a record most points scored by a losing team in the SB no punts or picks
