If you watch all the past wins of the chiefs Mahomes was the first to scramble down the field making TD's himself, throwing the ball across his chest, no look throws are his specialty. The street ball reference was pats moto. His push passes for TD's, his left handed throw for a first down.... The list goes on. This means Hamlin essentially had the equivalent of 7 blockers against a 7 man front. All you need is 5 yards Analytically it's the right call, based on probabilities and statistical outcomes. Seems like nothing insures a missed field goal more than the announcers talking about how consistent the kicker has been. I remember they brought it up in the TB vs DET game how TBs kicker only missed 2 field goals all year and the 2 that were missed were because they were blocked...misses clutch field goal late in the game
