Game 4 is Boston was not suspended, it was abandoned. It was tacked on to the end of the series, if it would be needed.

Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri (home of the NBA's Kings at the time) had a roof collapse in the summer of 1979. Happened in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm, I believe. Also, Seattle's Kingdome had tiles fall from the ceiling in 1994, forcing the Mariners to play the rest of their home games on the road in that strike-shortened season.
@E.HondaSF2 жыл бұрын
And had the strike not happened, I think they would've been stuck with all road games

@@E.HondaSFas a Mariners fan living in Seattle at the time I think MLB was going to allow them to play some of their home games down the road in Tacoma home of their AAA farm club, but the strike interrupted the season

The Metrodome just shows the problem with inflatable stadium roofs. BC Place in Vancouver, BC, Canada used to have an inflatable roof as well. Shortly after the closing ceremony for the 2010 Olympics, the roof leaked and it was decided to replace the roof with a retractable one

You missed the press box fire at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium in 1993 ... 😀 It delayed (but didn't cancel) a Braves baseball game. The Georgia Dome also got hit (and damaged) by a tornado during a college basketball game in 2008.

I was in the marching band in high school so I went to every football game home and away. We had a road game my freshman year and this school’s stadium was really nice, but about 10 minutes into the first quarter, one of their giant light towers lost power. They had one in every corner of the stadium so it was casting really weird shadows over the field. The game got paused for about 20-30 minutes and we played the entire time because we were the only entertainment lol

Why was it in style to build a dome supported by air pressure? The Superdome in New Orleans actually didn't rely on air pressure keeping a soft rooftop up. It's still being used today.

In 2013 my son and I flew from the US to Mexico City to watch the Spurs play Timberwolves in what would have been the first regular season NBA game in Mexico. The game was cancelled due to the arena being filled with smoke just before tip off, there was apparently a fire somewhere inside the building before the game. We somehow made it inside from a side entrance.
