I have achieved the lowest score possible in Super Mario Bros. I beat the game with only 700 points (As a point of reference:1 mushroom = 1,000pts )
I am officially the worst Super Mario player in existence.

The sprite of those plants are pretty big but they only use a small hit box. You'll die if you hit the hit box but if you don't touch it you won't die. That looks pretty silly because the plant itself is bigger than its own hit box.

Gametechpoint in college, I learned a bowling game where the object was to get the lowest possible score. To keep everyone from rolling gutter ball after gutter ball, zeroes closed the frame. So a zero on the first throw counts as a strike, zero on the second counts as a spare. Scoring (2+throws on strikes and 1+throws on spares) remains the same. Perfect score would be 20, hitting one and only one pin per roll. Fun game. Difficult.

This is just like the "Don't Touch Anything" challenge they added to one of the newer games, except it's a whole playthrough rather than just one level. I think this predates that, though. That's considered one of the hardest Mario levels to date.

He's the best bro. To have played this game without a SINGLE power up/ mushroom is clutch asf and a rare few can say they can do this. So I gotta give respect where respect is due yfm. 👏🏾💯
