My dad works in a small club in a country town. A couple of months ago a customer must've gone in and used some1966 fifties as regular change to buy a drink. Dad saw three in the till at the end of the night and swapped them out. I got two and a regular customer who was still on site was given one before he left. Little surprises do happen!!

That is amazing that people are still using them to pay for stuff, unknowingly understanding their true value. Thanks so much for sharing this story. Dan

As a Canadian I absolutely love the design of this coin, I just got my first one recently for my birthday I am very pleased with it although its often called "Junk silver" over here I see old silver coins for more then just their precious metal value, but for their historical significance and beautiful designs.

Thanks for your message. Totally agree they can be more comfortable then the value of the silver 👌

Im lucky enough to have one. Dad has 2 in his old coin collection and my friend's grandma has a whopping 75 round 50 cent pieces

75 😱 that’s definitely a good amount to have 👍 Dan

Thanks for the show and tell mate. I enjoyed it and learnt a few things. 😊 My dad had a tin full of those when I was a kid. Our house had a break in and they were stolen and we never got them back.

That’s such a shame they got stolen 😞 thanks so much for sharing. Dan

when i was young i got a few of the 50 cent collections in the perspex cases, had the round one with others like captain cook etc, usually 7 or 8 coins.

Were there any dodecagonal 50 cents coins made of silver?
@DantheCollectingManКүн бұрын
Only in the proof silver year sets. The 1966 was the only one in circulation 👍

These coins are amazing. Big sized, durable, good weight, and they make great silver sound when they clanged with one another. I have 12 of them, and I occasionally take them out to play around like a pirate with his stash. Can't do that with my pure 999 silver coins. Those pure silver coins will get scratched easily. 😂

I like the idea of having some to play around with 👌

My mother had over seven thousand of the roundies in her collection. She worked as a barmaid at the time and swapped them every time she saw one in the till.

It’s the best I have seen in that condition. I’m doing a video on Saturday night about the set! It’s definitely one to keep. Thanks so much for watching and all your support. Dan

Funny how things change. I remember growing up in Ausralia (70-80's) I collected all the variations of the "dodecagon" 50cents which are pretty much worthless and I only have 1 round silver one..

I bet you wished you had kept more! Dan 👍

They're in nice nick (not that I have an appreciation of their usual condition in the market). The 2006 set is cool.

Hi Dan love the proof set very nice condition for its age I do collect the 1966 50c so far I have about 56 not that many but getting there I'm not 100% sure but I was told there was some 1969 rounds made by mistake 🤔🤷♂️ who knows cheers mate. 👍👊

I don’t know anything about the 1969 rounds? Feels like it might be faked? Dan

I'm looking to invest in these also, these will sky rocket in value in the not too distant future as we transition into a cashless society

Need some advice, recently bought 10 pieces and 1 standout due to the weight is just 13.04g. Should I be concerned?
@DantheCollectingMan3 ай бұрын
That definitely sounds a bit strange. It should be 13.28 if you take it to a bullion dealer they will be able to check it for you. I use Bullion Now. Thanks Dan

It's funny to think that 50cents was once worth the value of 15 dollars. Essentially, if you get where i'm coming from.
