I don't remember someone missing the point in a review by this much. The gum sole is the main selling point of the shoes. Not just the gum sole, but the very light-colored gum sole, which is rare.

Well the gum sole is what make these sneakers vintage and stand out and it was the selling point for me. If you want all white sneakers there are hundreds of them ranging from $20-$500 out there. These sneakers are for someone like vintage looking sneakers.

I full agree . Her review is missing the whole purpose of the vintage concept. I am an OG and some of the Classic Sneakers in the 70's incorporated the gum sole . I actually owned them.

Agreed. While Ashley is entitled to her opinion of course, saying someone likes them because they are new on their style journey is both absurd and insulting. Not that I care, as I definitely wear and enjoy the gum sole over any of my white soled sneakers, but just don't think generalizing something you dislike as being a noob mistake makes any sense. When I see skinny ties, and poorly knotted ties that hang loose and don't have dimple, cheap dress shoes or any poorly cared for shoes, Ill-fitting clothing as in too tight or super baggy, that all is more in line with beginning mistakes.

Plus, the gum sole is much more durable. Because of their material, normal soles get stained and become obviously dirty. Whereas the gum sole fares well in many weather conditions, and is easily cleaned, making this J. Crew version of the shoe much more practical. I might be inclined to agree that the gum sole is too much if there weren't other factors within the shoe's color-scheme and design to offset this pronounced feature. However, the beautiful blue check and grey accents compliment the sole. So, in my eyes they play well together. All the shoes she linked to in the description (except for maybe one or two) are subpar as far as their silhouette goes. Meaning that although they will look alright coupled with the right trousers and such, they don't hold a candle to the *overall* design of the Killshot; especially when it comes to their versatility. Going to back to their durability as well, these Killshots break in and hold their shape over time way better than most other shoes with similar designs and materials. The leather toe of the Nike Blazers, as an example, tend to wrinkle badly and collapse as time goes on; same with other shoes on the list. However the Killshot's toe design actually prevents that from happening in large part. So I suppose you could say I wholeheartedly disagree with this lady.

The gum sole is what makes these so much nicer looking. I just got mine in the mail last week and have gotten a handful of compliments on them already. My all white sneakers I usually wear are nice but the Killshot 2s are made great as a sum of their parts, including the gum soles.

I have to respectfully disagree. I just bought my second pair of the restock. I think the gum sole is a nice variation. It really depends on the wardrobe, most of my shoes have a white outsole so having a gum outsole is nice. You can wear it perfectly in the fall with a nice wool blazer. I will always have the Killshot 2 in my rotation.

I mean they're or rather she's out of touch with why people like this shoe. It's *because* of the gum sole, at the very least that's a huge part of it. As others have said, the gum sole is what makes the shoe a bit more unique and pop out more. If you wanted another alternative that has a white sole, there are a lot of white sneakers out there that looks like that. The gum sole contrast with the navy blue and white/gray is what makes this shoe. I wouldn't take the opinion in the video too seriously, just enjoy your shoe.

Listing why you're out of touch with why people like the killshots (a huge reason *is* because of the gum-sole) isn't being butthurt. It's because one of the things that you don't like about the shoe happens to be what I see mentioned a lot when people say what they like about the shoe (gum-sole and versatility). Browse the reddit MFA or some of the other fashion forums/threads and you'll see a majority of the people who like this shoe like it for the colorway, which includes the gum-sole. So the comment wasn't really wrong unless you want to claim that you knew that but still wanted to voice why you didn't like the shoe, which is fine, but you didn't do the best job of mentioning why it is as coveted as it is, so it came across as you didn't really know.

I have to respectfully disagree. What you say about the gumsole looking dirty doesn't make sense- a tan color will mask dirt, white soles will show all dirt. Also tan is a neutral color that matches any outfit, so it will look good with almost any men's clothes. All of the colors in this shoe are timeless traditional colors in menswear, that's why the shoe is so popular, as it will look good with any outfit. There's a reason most men's dress shoes are brown, because brown masks dirt. All white shoes will show every speck of dirt. I guess if you want to be a conformist and dress like everyone else, there's a million white shoes to choose from. The gum sole is what drew me to the shoe, and I think $90 is a decent price.

I think the gum sole for men looks more masculine. Its why I love Adidas Sambas. Because they look great with any outfit, but they also look like your not afraid to jump into a quick futsal match. You're not too cool or too refined to get dirty. How often do you run into a soccer/match? Well...in the U.S. not often. In other places around the world, anytime.

Stumbled upon this video when I was looking to find my next pair of killshot 2 and totally disagree with these people saying it's not worth it. I pretty much wear my killshots all day all night. While looks are subjective, I personally couldn't find another shoe that's as versatile as this one. I wear them work, drive, walk, taking kids out, walking dogs, food pickup pretty much everywhere since these go with lot of color denim or trousers. They're comfy and I would prefer wearing these anyday

I disagree, the gum sole is the unique part that makes it a statement sneaker that still has a classic design. If it were white the shoe would be sold in the bargin bin at Marshall's. If worn correctly with the right muted color but well fitted ensemble, you'll definitely get your money's worth of wears. And after while let them go as far as cleaning and they'll turn into cool beaters for chore and errand use.

I bought these five or six years ago for $70. I had immediate buyer’s remorse at first but as my style got more relaxed and the shoes got more worn in/dirty, I ended up loving them. Not a fan of utilizing these for a clean cut style. That’s when the gumsole looks out of place.

As a guy, I'm agree with the most of the comments that the gum sole makes this shoe, that's what it really attract us to it, several years ago I bought them in my town(the black ones) and my only complain is that they are not comfortable for walking, they have all way flat insole, well I think they're supposed to be for skating. I think they're cool but the price is ridiculous, too expensive. I appreciate Ashley's advises that's why I'm subscribed to her channel and I think is only her preference(hate gum sole), if you ask me: would you buy them again? Not sure what i was expecting with this video, but i was atleast hoping they would cover the longevity of the shoe, and not writing it off because of the gum sole. The sole of the shoe is the most vintage part of the shoe, and is what will catch a persons eye long before someone notices the slightly faded brand name on the back of the shoe. At the end of the day if you like the shoe, or anything for that matter buy it!

I generally consider myself to have great taste (I guess everyone does?) and I’ve preferred white sneakers with gum shoe soles because I thought they were a little more distinct, still classy and sporty, and wouldn’t look dirty nearly as easily as all white vanilla sneakers. I’ve been wearing Fred Perry Umpire sneakers for the past 3 years. Willing to admit I could be wrong. But I also prefer low profile sleek sneakers to the chunky vanilla Stan Smiths.

I definitely agree with your opinion on the gum sole. I own these (bought them last year) and I think they add a different flavor to the "everyday" look. I 100% utilize my all white CP sneakers much more, because they're more universal. With that said, I think if someone is looking for something casual / wants a gum sole look, these would probably be the best. Plus they are very comfortable!

I agree that gum soleplates do not work as well as white ones, especially on white sneakers. However some colours actually do work with gum soles aswell. I really like the combination of military green velour leather sneakers with a gum sole, despite not being the most versatile sneaker.

I bought these in the late Spring. They aren’t as tough to get any more. The go with everything. Gum sole isn’t bad. Overall they look a bit cheap. I paid $90 at JCrew.

2019.. so Ive been looking for the Rod Lavers and apparently Adidas has quietly decided not to reissue them. The killshot two now comes in a green so I decided to get them. she hates gum sole shoes ... ok. but to say "not worth it" ...to preface it with "it's complicated" and base it solely on the gum soles kinda doesn't make sense. Kinda complicated would be "if the gum soles were all white this is a must have but since they only come in gum soles I wouldn't invest." I wear these sneakers twice a week from Memorial day until the Last day of the tennis US Open. Its a fun summery shoe and doesn't at all say " you don't know what your doing" ... what kinda style advice is that?
