*TIPS FOR WAY BETTER RESULTS* So despite having so much negativity to share about this machine, I can give you tips to make a *way* better drink than what you showed here. 1) The machine is intended to be used with pre ground *espresso* (meaning super fine grind) - not pre ground coffee. Since preground coffee isn't dialed in, you can get better results with pressurized filters (the ones with 1 hole in the bottom). 2) If possible, get a Hario hand grinder (or better yet a power burr grinder) and use that along with James Hoffman's tutorial on how to dial in grind size versus tamp pressure. 3) Have at least 7 grams per shot. If you can't use weight, try to adjust the amount you use and see what works. Too much will result in too slow of a shot so it will be bitter. Too little will be colorless/flavorless. You want the coffee to start off black, and slowly fade to dark brown. You want it to stop pouring before it "blondes" (turns beige). 4) Watch a few videos on how to froth - pay attention to the sounds and the motion of the milk. I hear 3 common sounds, when I screw up I hear a big fart-under-water sound which makes big bubbles (frother is too close to surface of milk). It makes a "tsk" sound when it's close to the surface but not too high up which makes fine bubbles. It makes a hissing sound when it's turning the milk and breaking down existing bubbles (when the frother isn't too close to the surface). For a latte you want to make a bunch of small bubbles (the TSK sound) over and over in the beginning then just turn the milk when it starts to get warm all the way until it's hot so those bubbles break down into smaller bubbles. For Cappuccino you continue to produce the small bubbles all the way until it's hot.

Quality video! I'm hesitant to buy one as well. What is you opinion of it after 10 months?
@Gemtakesfoodpics Жыл бұрын
Honestly, we use it everyday for coffees and love it. The water tank is easy to refill and it’s simple to clean. I drink 1 shot coffees and my partner usually uses the double and it’s super easy to swap out. I tried to use the frother attached to it, but after a few months, we bought a milk frother to use as I found it much simpler and quieter so I could go and do something else or prep my breakfast while the milk frother does it’s job. It also allows us to have cold milk froth & different types of froth (cappuccino, or latte, or even hot chocolate making) which is nice for summer and winter. Recommend it for coffee making, it’s compact for if you have small counter space like we do, nice quality and very aesthetic.

The tangled cord nearly caused me to drop the machine off the counter, as I quickly reached for it, my hands got more water-res than machine and the water reservoir flew off the machine and scraped itself pretty good. Then I discovered that I do not decide to preinfuse or not preinfuse... It's forced upon me every time. Then I discovered that if I want to pump 3oz instead of 1 or 2 I have to wait for the machine to recognize it's finished dispensing and reset, then pour another shot. So no Cafe Americano. Too bad. Then I discovered the steam wand has no juice. Then I figured I'd just see what happens if I hit the "recycle button" which is actually the cleaning cycle... well that turned on and it wouldn't turn off. I tried resetting, unplugging and replugging, holding the button again, then I read the instructions... this is when I discovered that the company is shamelessly just telling me "once you're in that mode, tough-cookies, you're stuck in that mode for 10 minutes" - and it was way more than 10 minutes because it needed to be manually continued 2x. If the Gaggia was just $100 cheaper I would easily decide to return this jank and buy a Gaggia (even though Gaggia isn't exactly the best any longer either).

Thanks for the great review! İ wanted to confirm- the machine doesn't have a bean grinder attached, right? You need to fill the thingy (idk the word :)) yourself, right?
@Gemtakesfoodpics2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your lovely comment! You’re correct, it doesn’t come with a coffee bean grinder. You’d have to buy one separately OR what we do is just buy pre-ground coffee. Depends what your preference is :) You fill the coffee in yourself so it needs to be ground already. Hope that helps!

Hi Kristina, thanks for your comment. This was my first time using the milk frother and I have not used one before in this way, so am in no way an expert on how to use it and may not have done the best job with it. That being said, it is slightly difficult to get the jug underneath the nozzle and remove it as the nozzle is quite long. We have been very happy with the machine regardless and use it almost everyday. Hope you are able to make a decision and if you do decide to keep it, I hope you enjoy your purchase as I have :)

It could be because the milk she is using isn’t really full fat milk you tend to find they are much thinner in consistency compared to normal milk.

Non fat milk froths the best. Also to get the driest foam you start with a cold pitcher and you keep the steam wand tip close to the top of the milk when steaming, keep moving the wand as the foam expands.

Of course! We use the espresso machine almost everyday. I use the milk frother with it now that I've gotten the hang of how to use it, but we also recently got a separate milk frother that is less manual (just pour the milk in and it does the job for you) so that we can make non-coffee drinks more easily (think hot choc, matcha, etc). Honestly love it, and so glad we have it. Fab for hosting, too -- espresso martinis and affogato are a breeze!
