I got a LNER one yesterday, had it running on the club test track tonight. Looks beautiful and runs amazingly. Very happy with it!

One will *definitely* want a stay-alive with one of these! Also, I approve of the correct use of the subjunctive in the TMC sponsor message.

Nice to see the “glass half full” review. Great looking little loco. I love the green and red livery. Thanks for reviewing

Good evening Jenny!! This looks a lovely little locomotive!! It’s a brilliant little machine that was designed for shunting on docks and became a great little shunter for all sorts of locations.

Sand boxes were absolutely essential in the early days of steam locomotives!! Especially up north in the sort of location in which they would be used!!

I would say the fortnightly release myself, but every other week is good enough!!

Sorry Jennifer, I believe you are incorrect regarding the spoked wheels @ 13:30. Rapido produce both 9 and 10 spoke versions. 1302 has 9, your NER green has 10. There are different buffer types represented in the range too. If your comment refers to 1302 actually having 10 spokes in real life, then you may find that was actually a 9 spoke variant when you look at historical photos. You did spot that there are variations in the roofs.

@@MarkSmith-kb7br the text was added after I recorded the video but was told by multiple people that the spokes were wrong - I had not identified it as an issue during recording. In deference to being made aware of the spokes by several people, some at manufacturers, I added the text. I put my trust in what I was being told.

Looks great. I don't buy the Sam derived arguments that it should be marked or priced down compared to the diecast saddle tanks. Plastic was the correct material to use for the tanks and cab (with overhang) being integrated into 1 part, a diecast cab would be unsuitable with the thickness of the material. I see the same with plastic or metal buffers that depend on the shape whether they can be turned in metal or not. Consideration needs to be made as to HOW to manufacture a product before comparing two different designs. As demonstrated it looks and performs absolutely fine at under 100g, and for any prototypical layouts it has a much wider range of settings than the purely industry saddle tanks.

And I think I’ll put it like this. It’s a typical Rapido model!! My Metropolitan Number One is a great little locomotive in miniature.

I think there would be a market for the 60+ year old mini of someone made them new, as long as they were decent and cheap.
@JenniferEKirk16 күн бұрын
@@little_britain that’s the issue - they wouldn’t be cheap. Probably they would cost the same as any other small car.

@@JenniferEKirk I wouldn't want one with all the modern safety and doodads. Same crappy steel, thin pillars etc. Could probably make em in Indonesia. Just a fun ride for 5 years until the bottom rusts out just like the originals.

Packaging not quite drop kick proof. Caught our postman in the act dropping mine over our 6ft gates. It's had to go back as its dislodged the motor or something as it makes a right racket. Never knocked our any thing just dropped it over the gate and went.

Great video jenny, gorgeous little loco these, love the lner black livery, and the valve gear depiction is insane! Shame that it doesn't have a firebox flicker for the price, but it is what it is!

A bit over-priced compared to other manufacturers 0-4-0s like Dapol's Hawthorne Leslies's or Hornby's Pecketts which are both diecast whereas this is plastic and more on a par with the Andrew Barclays but more expensive. Of those models I would say this was my fourth choice due to the lack of diecast and price. Not that it looks a bad model by any means, it's just outshone by the competition. Think I'll give it a miss and save my money for other models that tempt me more. e.g. I have two of Rapido's O1s on pre-order and am more tempted by some of their other upcoming releases including the evolution coaches.

@speleokeir17 күн бұрын
You can get it for £123 at the retailers which is affordable, but still a bit over priced compared to other 0-4-0s on the market like the Hawthorne Leslies, Peckets and Andrew Barclays with the first two being better models IMO.
