I want it!! my wife and I just bought a campervan and we're starting a channel to document our travels. We've also picked up a pair of Ebikes which is why I was looking at budget action cameras. Out of all I've seen so far, I'm liking this one. I would love to have a Go Pro but it's just not in our budget right now. The stabilization with this camera is way better than most others I've looked at. I'm sure I'll be happy with it.

I want it. That's actually pretty decent for a $140 action camera. I think one of the reasons the budget action camera is disappearing is that the best budget action camera is probably a couple of generations old DJI or GoPro. Assuming you can find one for around $150 that's in good condition.

I don’t know if it’s the terrible sensors in these budget cams, but you can tell from the footage immediately. I think the best option for those not wanting to pull the trigger on a 300+ model is to a purchase a used GoPro 10 or DJI Action 3 on eBay/marketplace.

If only they had enough market share to impact pricing of those big 3. Yes, it's not the best camera out there, but at $139 I expected worse. It is acceptable for what it is, but for $199 you can grab an Action3. I think where this camera will show it's worth is in it's lifespan...will it get updates, will it last, will additional batteries be available, is there an accompanying app? Remember too folks, consider your needs. If you need accessories, consider what will work with this. It's a decent prize for whoever gets it. Do I want it, maybe. Nice review Andre. It's good to remind yourself of the perspective you have with so many top line action cams.

I'm glad you're still doing reviews on budget cameras, because boy am I on a budget. I've broke into the higher end with a GoPro 8 which was a total disaster, then, I talked myself into a GP 9 that's doing good so far. I still rely heavily on my original couple of budget cameras. Surprisingly, I have had less glitchy type problems with the budgets than the GP 9. So yes, I still like the cheap ones for my needs/ know how. Budget cameras are still fine with me. If you're giving that camera away, I will certainly put to use in my arsenal of really bad video production equipment if I end up with it (it's just REALLY fun). Otherwise, thanks as always for these upfront, no BS reviews!

I think sometimes we get spoiled with the big 3. For the price a person maybe able to pick up a used GoPro 7 on marketplace. I don’t think I would get one before the 7. Keep doing the great work in finding the hidden Gems out there.

Agreed, it looks ‘ok’. For my beater camera I use my original Akaso v50X. In the garage when take something apart & I have a reference as to how to put it back together. I use my GP 10 quite a bit. But I find I use my Iphone 15Pro mostly. Pics and home videos. I don’t think the budget cameras have kept up enough to grab a measurable market share to make it. But it made it to Worth It or Not. So I’ll stop by and look at it. Thx for the info Andre. 👍

For AUD $212 not really worth it unless you don't have an action cam then not bad. Noted 3 modes in stabilisation, Normal, Super and Gyro Data in the menu? Not sure what Gyro Data means. Bonus it is currently available on Amazon Australia and for AUD $182 which isn't too bad for a dual screen camera and an Ambarella H22 SoC.

I know that we're both recovering budget cam addicts but I think the standard we should use to keep our perspectives current is "Is this budget camera better than the camera on the phone that they currently give away for free at Metro or Boost?". By this standard, I'd have to say no. Is the audio as good? Once again, no. I keep hoping to say yes to one of these but I believe my rational mind says that this ship has sailed years ago. @@WORTHITORNOT Here's another reference point: Does the camera have better picture quality than a Sony HDR-AS200V (not even a 300 or 3000)? How about audio? Once again, my answer would be no. Speaking of AS200, I just checked the price on Ebay and it seems that the time is right to sell mine plus the 300 and the Canon X82 and buy the Ace Pro. I know I was thinking about doing that a few months back but the time and price seems right.

Yup indeed, this one seems meh although audio is sort of acceptable. My olde Yi4K look way better than that. I think these brands need to renew their items a lot to get reseller orders, even if there's no fundamental tech change involved. I'm sure the market for budget action cams is huge, on Reddit for instance, there's a lot more talk about Akaso and Wolfgang than DJI/Gopro, and Reddit is mainly North America. Think about Asia, Middle East, Africa, South America, East Europe with lower purchasing power in many places. Shelling out 3-400 dollars for an occasional use device is not for everyone. We're spoiled for sure ! The good news is that you'll keep having an endless supply of devices to review ! Actually I could see you doing a ranking chart, best to worst (IQ, audio, battery life, overheating, software interface etc, with sub charts for 1080/4K/5K ..., price performance etc... to conclude your reviews. I'm sure most people are lost when it comes to budget action cam rankings.

As I said before, I can't vouch for any of the Akaso products anymore as I don't know if they switched the internals for cheaper parts like the V50X. For a little more money you can get the GoPro Hero 10 and have a great camera that will outperform any of these budget cameras. Hope that helps

hey bro, thanks for your content, I have been looking for a good action camera cheap for a long time, my budget is more or less than 100 dollars because my country is very insecure, im from Colombia, the principal reason why I need the action camera is recording while i ride bicycle, therefore I need essentially a good stabilization and a wide angle lens, I don't know what to choose, there are a lot of action cameras cheaps but all of them are bad in stabilization, very bad. Can you suggest me a budget camera? You have many experiences in this topic. Thank you.

My first thought is "Holy crap.. that is super overprocessed". Way too much sharpening and contrasting and crappy encoding This seems to be a common pitfall with (budget) action camera's. If these companies would just offer some "flat" or "log" options, or even some control about the post processing, these camera's would be much better. The sensor is good, the CPU has enough "oomph"... but they make poor choices in the software.

It looks just like every other budget brand action cam. It's almost like the same company is making them all and just rebranding them and sending them out again and again with minimal difference to catch a whole load of new people who have not heard the phrase "Buy it nice or buy it twice". Another phrase that works is Good but not Great. And BTW Go-Pro have not been anywhere near a 10 for years (IMHO). DJI or Insta all day long.

Right now I wouldn't recommend any products from Akaso as they seemed to have replace the internals of their cameras with much cheaper hardware which gives very poor performance.
