I totally agree. Their ADVChina and old Churchill customs renown should make custom "curated" modified Chinese bikes a natural segue now that they're here in the States. I'm sure lots of folks over here might wanna buy one if they were just "beefy" enough for occasional highway use--say 400cc or more.

Yay! Bike! Winston's cheap bike challenge from all those years ago is part of the reason why I have a GS250 in 1000 bits in my garage right now! 40 year old JIS machine screws really don't like coming undone! (I should have got a GN, parts are so much easier to find! lol!). The other reason is my VTR1000 is worse on fuel getting me to work than my car! LOL! It'll be on the road this year, honest!

I actually built my first "motorbike" about a month ago. I bought a cheap Chinese 49cc 4 stroke bike kit and outfitted an old used mountain bike. I'm only 15 so no license or nothing so this is good for now. It does about 50+ Kmph so thats more than enough for cruising Toronto. Best thing is, it cost me under 400 bucks. Yeah, Bruh !! I had a GN400 back in say...87 that I got for $400. Black on black like your 125. I was looking for an SR500 Yamaha, but they were all over $1000.. That little Suzuki was a 5 speed thumper, with a top speed of like 80. But it was what I needed at the time to really gain confidence as a rider, I was just a kid.. That's the bike I rode when mastered wheelies around corners, going up stairs, kicking over bikes without using the compression release, etc. It was a good solid bike. If it only had one more gear...
@williamswenson53153 жыл бұрын
The bikes you rode in your documentaries each had such a simple, but classy style about them. Minimalist and clean, they appeared graceful even in repose. Who knows? Perhaps you should copywrite "Churchill Motors" along with the logo and file it under future projects.

It is recommended when you take your front wheel off to place a bit of a spacer between the pads to ensure the caliper doesn't close up. I usually just place an allen/hex key between them to keep them open. I here tell that if you didn't it is possible to accidently knock your front brake and squeeze them in, it is even possible to actually (say someone pulled the front brake on for instance) push the brake piston passed its seal) and then DOH!!!!!! so place a simple wedge in between to save a lot of hassle.. Just my 2 cents.
@zeze33053 жыл бұрын
Crazy this pops up as i have been wanting to get into bikes.
@rwiersema3 жыл бұрын
What I usually do is just take the 2 bolts out of the caliper and fit that when the wheel is on. That way you're not trying to make 5 things fit at once (especially with dual front discs)

I got an old bike like yours. An ‘80 yamaha 400, the only thing i customized was the handle bars, a bit lower so i lean into the wind instead of being a drag cute sitting straight up. Rear Shock extensions would have been nice if i could have found some to lower it a bit. I like the seats the way they are as its like riding on the frame, for a short guy like myself it makes waiting at a light much easier having a seat instead of bars to straddle. To each their own tho, i like all the things you took off for their function. Especially the lights, ive come up on so many of these customed bikes that i couldnt see their signals and almost ran them down cuz of it.
