I have started using my Jawsaw for this season. I just had to open it up and reset the chain. I can't believe how easy it was! I originally purchased my Jawsaw because I was afraid to use my regular chainsaw. This has been the perfect tool for yard upkeep.

I just came across your video. I am wanting to purchase this the remove some tree roots in my yard. Is this tool good for that,? the roots are on the surface and my lawn mover goes over the roots and I'm tired of it. I'm am deciding between this or a sawzall, but I like this one because of the safety blade is covered by the housing. ( I think that's how to say it). thanks for responding
@meanderingyogi65622 жыл бұрын
I would say it would work well for removing roots. Keep in mind though the chain only comes within a half inch of touching the ground so the root may have to be lifted a little bit with a shovel or similar tool if the root is directly on the ground. Very safe and easy tool to use.. hope this helps and again, thanks for watching..!

How does this do on old dry thicker branches (2-3")?
@meanderingyogi6562 Жыл бұрын
Practically all we do with it consists of just that these days. We use it for cutting up dead limbs for the campfire wood. Does a great job and comfortable to use if someone’s hesitant about a chainsaw.

@@meanderingyogi6562 Thank you. The saw I have does great on green wood, but pretty much nothing on dead thick branches, so that's good to know. 👍

If it's a power cord unit it should be sticking out at the rear of the machine, they also make a battery operated model..

I'm kind of on the fence about this, I saw reviews on Amazon and lots of folks said the chain was always an issue coming of.
@meanderingyogi65622 жыл бұрын
Hi Tadpole, I haven’t experienced any issues with the one we have, not once has the chain come off or give me any issues whatsoever. It’s used pretty often for the outdoor fire pit wood.. tough call.. wish you all the best, thanks for watching..!

it's a safety feature. The chain slips when it's improperly used.

I've had one for a few years now but I have the battery operated model which is not as powerful but still works well. As far as the chain coming off, no it is not a "safety feather" as someone else said. You have to keep the chain properly tensioned and it will not come off the bar. A slight amount of slack is required for any chainsaw but not to the point where the chain is too lose. When the chain starts to loosen up on the bar, tighten it up per instructions but do not over tighten it. Another option is the Black + Decker Alligator which I've also had for several years now, (Craftsman has an identical model). Both machines work well but what I like about the JawSaw is that you can cut branches that are lying on the ground using only one hand which makes it almost effortless. I find the Alligator to be slightly easier to use for branches on the tree because the closing mechanism is easier to operate.

What kind of maintenance did it require for 2 years? Oil change, chain sharpening, anything else?
@meanderingyogi65623 жыл бұрын
The one I’m using in the video is electric, so no type of engine oil is required. The chain oil or bar oil is another common name has a see through lens so you can see when it requires filling. A good practice is to refill every time it’s used and it’s easy to maintain a visual through the lens as your operating. The chain life is comparable to any other chain, with normal use it will stay sharp for a long time. The beauty of this tool as I mentioned in the video is you can’t cut into the dirt very easily, which is the quickest killer of a sharp blade. Very low maintenance & quality tool for the price. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching !
