Battery operated mowers have come a long way, i remember when i switched to battery over gas due to annoyed always have to refuel the gas one, put new oil it, do maintenance, and even taking it to get fixed. The first two ryobi mowers i had was a little disappointed since you needed 3-4 batteries to do the backyard. Current ryobi one i love better since had more power and bigger battery. Though i had it last 2 years but i am looking at other mowers in future, kobalt being some of the few im looking into when i need to get a new mower. Reviews like this help. ^^

If a 40 volt will get the job done for you then it's the way to go! I know I wanted an Ego mower but batteries were and still are an issue. That being their price! Ego batteries cost $300.00! These 40 volt 4amh Kobalt batteries are $129.00. I currently use the 24 volt max system from Lowes in my weed eater and blower plus I have a a set of powered hand tools that use the same batteries. I'm on my 3rd season with the lawn equipment and original battery. Everything is still as good as the day I bought it. Kobalt is the best stuff you can buy in my opinion. You can't beat them for price and reliable.

That tool is amazing like the 40V weed eater/blower. I also have a Cadillac ELR and it has almost 150k miles and never been in the shop. The generators seals are toast and it does leak oil like the Exxon Valdez tho.

No such thing as a dumb question.. ever..lol.. Yes you do not need to have the bag on it unless catching the grass for compost or some other use. It cuts and mulches the grass beautifully due to the type of blade that it has. The bag is just a personal preference. Hi I'm finally got brave enough to cut the grass wet after seeing your video. Thank you. I have couple of questions. Number one how durable would you say a Cobalt lawn mower is? Can you run over sticks rocks pine cones and it won't damage it? Second question I noticed you said that you never changed your blades but you sharpened them. Will you do a video on sharpening?
@meanderingyogi65622 жыл бұрын
The mower I have in the video has been put to the test in the past four yrs, so I personally feel it has past in the tough department. This mower like most of its gas counter parts is capable of mulching small twiggy branches say no bigger then a pencil. It would only dull your blade quickly if you did bigger then that so I wouldn't suggest it. NEVER hit rocks if you can avoid them, raise the mower up if you have to. I plan on doing a blade sharpening video, just haven't gotten around to it.. Thanks for the suggestion, and for watching..!

Love KOBALT 80 volt stuff. This year (9/20/2021) I bought the 80v Polesaw 10" 2.5ah battery. Chainsaw 18" 80v 6ah battery. 80v Max Blower. Now looking to buy the 80v 21" Lawnmower. I love their equipment. My son works at Lowes which Owns KOBAT, but I can't find any 80-volt KOBAT stuff at the stores. I always have to order online. I am curious as to the difference between the 80-volt Lawnmower models as follows: The model with a single 80v 6ah battery vs the model with 2 80v 4ah batteries.
@meanderingyogi65623 жыл бұрын
I haven't had the opportunity to run any of the 80v products. I can however answer on the battery portion. Your total run time will be longer with the two 4ah batteries by about 20%. You can use that for comparative pricing to see if it's worth it. The battery life cycle will be close to same, so the use of two over one will also lengthen the battery replacement time as well. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching..

Can you use the trimmer as an edger?
@meanderingyogi65623 жыл бұрын
The short answer is yes, but with a note of caution ⚠️ this model doesn’t offer a turning head feature, so you have to twist the whole unit in order to achieve the results you’re looking for. Which in tales a extra bit of caution on the operator because the guard design doesn’t accommodate this angle well and debris will be strewn all about in an unorganized whim.. Safety Glasses 🥽 a must. Hope this helped. Thanks for watching !
@dlipp233 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply, I’m looking to upgrade but need a trimmer edger and had 3 questions. First one you just answered, my second question was how many years of use you can get from a battery. I believe you said you’re on year 3 which is awesome. The last question is about reloading the string and how easy the line feeds out. Any issues with either of those? Thanks again!
@meanderingyogi65623 жыл бұрын
Speaking only from my own experience, I do have 3 years behind the batteries that I have, so far not one incident. All 3 still hold a charge with no noticeable decrease in power. The string, well it’s not bad once you fumble through the learning curve of loading it a few times, then it’s like riding a bike as I’ve mentioned before. A little patience goes a long way the first time or two. It has the bump and go feed, and it does work. But my experience in the past has taught me that using that feature wears a hole in the bottom after some time. So I generally just push it in by hand, pull one piece with the other to start, then pull them both till it clicks. Might sound like a lot, but it’s just takes a couple of seconds, so that’s what I do just to get a longer life out of it. Hope this answers your questions.

Great Blog! Thank you for the review on 3 year old Kobalt equipment👍🏼 The grass you cut is a lot shorter in height than mine is but I can see that it is a different turf altogether. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them all again, great equipment and little maintenance. I'll be doing a 4yr review this summer from our new yard from Maine.. Might be a bit, as we're still in our perpetual winter..lol. Wish you all the best and thanks for watching..!

how much did you pay for everything?

Hello Abraham, wow you’re really picking my brain with this one. I don’t remember the prices, they were purchased from Lowe’s using the 10% discount they offer to veterans. Bought them at the same time , but as separate items.. No kind of a bundle deal. I do apologize but that’s all I can tell you on that, Thank you for watching.

Hi there. I found this review very helpful. Is there a lot of maintenance other than battery charging? Is it hard to take off laser to sharpen? I'm new to electronic mowers.
@meanderingyogi65623 жыл бұрын
Not sure if laser is being said literally, or slang for blade. This style mower has a conventional hardened metal blade with two sharpened sections towards the outer tips. The blade can be taken off easily by removing the center bolt,( For sharpening or replacing if badly damaged.) Note: Maintenance for the blade is the same as a gas mower. But in general you have a whole lot less maintenance overall with the battery powered mowers. I hope this answers your question, thanks for watching !

Nice job on the review! How does it do with taller and thicker grass? Our grass here in Illinois grows so fast and is denser than what I see in your video.

Agreed, you’re correct in your observation. The lawn we had in Ohio was similar to what you have, the good topsoil with lush thick grass. Honestly it’s not a super-mower by any means. However, I personally feel it does just as good as the gas powered mowers on how well it cuts before it bogs down. It automatically revs up when faced with a challenging clump or taller grass, however that will decrease the battery life quickly. So best if mowed at the proper hight. I generally try to cut after the grass is 2-3” to tall. It works well like that. The difference really boils down to if you prefer gasoline or battery so far as I can tell, performance for me seems equal. I hope this offers a bit more tangible info. Thanks so much for your time & question..

Hello, thank you for the review, we are looking at this one ourselves ( between ryobi and kobalt - self propelled vs. push) we gave a small flat lot. Can you please tell me the model number of the blower and trimmer. I see they have more than one model. Thanks again. Great video!

Happy to, and thanks so much for watching. The Blower Model # KHB 350-06 and the Trimmer Model # KST 130x-06 .

@@meanderingyogi6562 thanks again, I forgot to ask you one more question if you don’t mind? I’ve read a lot of people complain about reloading the trimmer line saying it’s extremely cumbersome ( the same model you have) Do you find this as well?
@meanderingyogi65623 жыл бұрын
No, but I’ve only dealt with a few like this and I find them all to be about the same, key is don’t get in a hurry. The first couple times is a learning curve, after that it’s just another bicycle so to speak..🤓

It don’t even look like the grass needed mowing. Um yah ahh. I couldn’t tell where you mowed and where you didn’t yet. Yeah um. Please make a video with tall grass, not one days growth
