Just got this model trimmer and blower, our city has implemented a ban on blowers over a certain decibel level, and this model of Worx blower is in compliance with the new noise levels. I upgraded both the blower and the edger to the 40V models, having used the previous generation of edgers and blowers and have been very happy with them. I'm a lady gardener, in my 60's and these tools make lawn care so much easier. Most definitely appreciate your review as there are way more buttons on this new edger compared to the older version! This has been most helpful, thank you for creating this for us!!

I realize I'm "late to the party" from when this video posted. I just got a WG184 and I like everything except I noticed one thing: If the trimmer line is not wound or spooled "cleanly" and the line gets wedged in with the rest of the line then the Command Feed feature (which is a great concept) won't feed the line and I have to use the manual push button on the side of the trimmer housing. No big deal - just that the "bells/whistles" don't always work as engineered. This happens with the WORX OEM trimmer line. At least I upgraded from a WG150 18V and its a better powered (but not lighter) trimmer. Good Video!

Just bought one today. $139 special at Sam's Club. Batteries went down fairly quick, but I didn't charge them first. Waiting for charge up, then, back at it. I already own the corded 110volt worx trimmer, and I feel like the trim string is fairly tough. Happy customer here

@@MarkThomasBuilder Used it today. Sorry but this weedeater isn't comfortable at all for me. I am only 5'3" and maybe that is the issue. Spent the entire time trying to adjust anything I could but I still end up with my elbow in a very awkward position because of where the bulk of the controls and battery pack hit. I am not going to send it back as it can now be my back up to my EGO cordless. But maybe it will work better for me as an edger. I did not have the problem with the string being cut a little each time, but the thing you mentioned about the moter stopping when you hit the string advance is sure true. But after about the 10th time I used that button it stopped advancing. But the little button down on the string cartridge still makes it easier to advance the string when you need to. I did watch another video showing how you can reuse the spools and even load it with tougher trimmer string than what Worx sends with the unit. I have .080 string on hand so when this cartridge runs out I will give that option a try. I did find the unit to be quieter than my EGO cordless and I feel the battery life and fast recharge is a plus. But maybe this is just not a unit for a shorter person.

I bought the cheap Worx trimmer and it too feeds out more line each time the trigger is released. Apparently the spool gets enough shock from the switch being turned off to rock a bit loose from the housing that holds it, and this allows the gears that are a part of the spool to be used for feeding more line out, one notch at a time. I overrode this feature by adding some thin shim material under the cover over the spool. If I want more line, I can still push in the button under the spool by hand if I want.
@MarkThomasBuilder4 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I felt like it went through too much trimmer line when I was using it.

Mark: I think every time you tried to press line feed button it give you wraking sound, that's probably the line feeding is always going to more then you need regardless you are too short or less short of the length. It will feed more and the excess string will cut down with the blade already installed on the either side of the shield for the safety ( thats makes sound once every time you push the button).
@MarkThomasBuilder4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's correct. I don't recall seeing how long the ends were that got cut off. This trimmer works best it you're only using it to regularly trim the grass and not going after real tall stuff.

Hi! Thanks for the video! I saw you have the nitro trimmer now. How do you like the Nitro vs the WG184? What are pros/cons?
@MarkThomasBuilder Жыл бұрын
The Nitro is more of a pro-sumer trimmer and much more heavy duty. The one in this video has thinner line and only 1 line coming out the head vs the normal 2 that trimmers have. I like the wheel on this one to do some edging, but if you want a serious edge, you'll want the Nitro edger attachment. The one in this video is very light weight, good for those with easy maintenance lawns and people who aren't able to do anything too strenuous or lift heavier equipment. Hope that helps.
@ceewilson47745 жыл бұрын
How long is the battery life for a heavy duty use and also do you have to have both batteries in at once? Thanks

@MarkThomasBuilder4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice, I'll have to look at them the next time I'm there.
@stanfordpittman1654 Жыл бұрын
There not the same at all. I have both and the Bauer was a mistake when getting it. It worked good the first week or so, but power was ok, battery life was a little over half the length of the worx, and when it gets hot it shuts off. It's new and my work is over 10 yes old, still using the original 40v batt and one I bought about 9 yes ago and both are almost like when new. I have 13 acres and I keep it all trimmed so I work the hell out of a trimmer just about everyday including weekends, but I love doing it. So in fairness, yes I probably put the Bauer through more use then average but it's been a year and half and I quit using it about 6months ago. I got me another worx as a back up to my old one, but I was a bit Leary of the new one because it looks just like the Bauer and thought it was the same , but I took a chance anyways and I'm happy with it, it lives up to the worx name just fine. But honestly if you can find a older single 40v battery one....they are built better and are stronger by a good bit. I think the new ones loose power with its newer advancements in the shaft maybe, but they are a lot lighter.
@egold10063 жыл бұрын
I have a similar worx model and find the edger wheel sets the trimmer string too high. I reverse mine, though you cannot lock it in place. I use a little hot glue. They should of made this adjustable.

I do about 60 properties weekly commercially here in MN and have been running the Works 40v (single battery) weed whippers for the last 5 years or so. They are my "go to" trimmers rather than gas. Why? Light weight, low noise, and long battery life (especially on the low speed/power switch). I have 6 batteries, and three chargers. If I get a new property that has not been maintained around the edges, I then pull out my Echo gas trimmer. for the really thick, tough old weeds. I pre-spool the line on extra spools in my home at night, and then just pop them in as needed on the job sites. I don't try to do any initial edging of the concrete, but rather use the Echo for first time tough situations.

I always weed whack first then mow to cut up the long grass left from trimming then last use the blower. Any other way and you seem to leave clumps after weed whacking. Just my $.02.
@MarkThomasBuilder3 жыл бұрын
That's a good way that works. If I'm mowing once a week, the grass I trim doesn't get too long where it needs to be mowed. I always use the blower at the end, especially if I do sidewalk edging.
