Arthas' story is definitely one of the best, albeit saddest ones. Once a great prince and paladin was tricked from the very beginning to become one of the most evil beings Azeroth has ever known. Since he learned about Mal'Ganis, the latter was only leading him towards his destruction. Vengeance was only thing that he has known, and since he took Frostmourne, there was no Arthas anymore. There was only Lich King. Say what you say about this "villain" and "butcher", but Arthas Menethil is the greatest victim of the Undead Scourge.

The "killing" of Ner'zhul was more of a metaphorical situation inside the Crown of Domination, it just symbolized Arthas now being the dominant personality, not the only one. This is pretty much proven as during one of the quests for the Alliance in the Howling Fjord where you see the Lich King he remarks that he "was once a shaman", Arthas certainly wasn't ever a shaman so that means Ner'zhul is still in there. To further prove this, on that same occasion inside the Crown, Arthas also "killed" his younger self Matthias Lehner, and yet it was later revealed that Arthas had to rip out his own beating heart just to get Matthias off his back, so he wasn't killed in the Arthas novel either.Another point to disprove this is the whole way Ner'zhul became the Lich King in the first place. He was condemned to live on and suffer eternally inside the Crown of Domination by Kil'Jaden, who felt that Ner'Zhul should suffer forever as punishment for betraying him so long ago before Gul'dan took his place. I highly doubt that Kil'Jaden, the second in command of the Burning Legion, the guy whose desire for vengeance is so strong that he's been hunting down the Draenei for tens of thousands of years, put a spell of vengeance so weak on Ner'Zhul that a lone human would be able to break it and kill him. It just isn't possible.

Greed TheVirtue You do make a good point, however Lich King saying that he was once a shaman isnt technically wrong since the original Lich king had the soul of Ner'zhul inside him. Just like it wouldnt be technically wrong of him to say i was once a paladin. Now concerning Kil'Jaeden's spell of vengeance, i highly doubt Kil'Jaeden foresaw that a random human would come in and claim the power for himself. I believe the spell was simply a prison as you can recall in warcraft 3 end cinematic when Ner'zhul said to Arthas"release me from this prison", i think that his soul was simply cursed to be inside of a armor that is inside of a block of ice for all eternity... That is until Arthas came. And i guess we shall see how things end up with Bolvar then we will know for sure if Ner'zhul is dead or not. But if Ner'zhul is still alive and the soul of Arthas was consumed by the Lich King wouldnt that mean that Arthas is also alive?

This song is really something special to me. As this and the Cinematic were the first things that I saw about WoW long, long time ago. And while I really am not a WoW player, played only a bit. This music is something that stays with me. And this song, including "Why Do We Fight", "Time Change" and "Azeroth's Last Hope" are in my opinion the BEST intro musics for this game. But this is the top no doubt. Especially as this was no doubt also introduction to World of Warcraft for many when this was first time released.

People are pining for Arthas the same way people are pining for a return to BC, or Vanilla. It's nostalgia. A month after Arthas "returned" those same people would say it was implemented incorrectly, or point to something else wrong with the game. Oh, and your suicide girl is an exceptional case, if that is even true. Anyone actually contemplating suicide over a game needs serious help. $100 the game was an excuse and it was over things occurring in real life that you were unaware of.

***** There might be who knows, there must always be a Lich King and at the moment it's Bolvar who is sitting, frozen in ice though, on the frozen throne so I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to bring him back in a further expansion. Moreover that he is also wearing the Lich Kings crown and weapon(?) which will probably possess him. Arthas is gone but the Lich Kings lives on, there must always be a Lich King or the scourge will run rampant because no one is controlling them so yes, the Lich King will rule forever.

People say that Arthas is dead. They are wrong. He lives on in our memories of this song, this expansion. No matter our race, class, faction or gender, we will never forget the one true king and he will live on only in our memories until the forests of lordaeron once again whisper the name "Arthas" The last part was a sort of "bring back Arthas" moment directed at blizzard, I really think they could do a lot more with him then they already have. They've played around with alternate dimensions before, surely they could create a new expansion and dimension where Arthas wasn't defeated stop icecrown citadel, where we can join the scourge. An alternate Azeroth in which we, the players can choose to help, or stop, the lich King taking over, where we can defeated the legion under the rule of the lich King, Arthas. I don't know if you agree, but I would love to see this in WOW

Used_Books The Lich King (Bolvar) is what's keeping the Scourge controlled and not causing trouble all around Azeroth. It's much safer to have a Lich King, than none. At least Bolvar had a good spirit before putting the crown on, Arthas was corrupted WAAAY before he became the Lich King.

Khorne Berzerker Endless grinding that felt very rewarding. The stats scaling was great back then opposed to now. Level 109? No way you are gonna beat a 110. I remember being a 32 paladin dishing out some big damage to level 50's+. Also you speaking of classes being "buff dispensers" is kind of funny to me. Every class played a big role and it really helped people find their own persona within the class. Nowadays they have to make everyone happy by scaling stats down so buffs don't even matter anymore. The game has gone to waste especially with Chris Metzen gone.
